US strips Jewish army major of security clearance
By Arieh O'Sullivan
The US Army has revoked the security clearance of a Jewish reserve major, forcing him to give up command of an intelligence unit, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
The officer claims the action was for no other reason other than his close ties and affiliation to Israel. He said this reflected an inherent anti-Semitism in the US intelligence community.
Maj. Shawn Pine, commander of the 300th Military Intelligence Company (Linguist) of Austin, Texas, holds dual US-Israeli citizenship and is also an IDF veteran of the Golani Brigade as well as the elite US Army Rangers.
Pine, a specialist in counterintelligence, said he was given top-secret clearance after going through a detailed background investigation and polygraph in 1991.
Born in the United States, Pine immigrated to Israel with his family at the age of 17 in the late 1970s. He was conscripted into the IDF and served three years in the Golani Brigade. But after his discharge, he returned to America for university studies. He chose a military career and served nine years as an officer in active duty in the US Army.
"It is not like my service and affiliation with Israel was kept a secret. I have always been very forthcoming in disclosing all of my interactions with Israel," Pine said.
"As with many Americans, the events of September 11th reinvigorated my sense of patriotism," Pine said. "But rather than try to utilize my experience and education, the US intelligence community is mired in a paranoid abyss in which it perceives every Jew to be Jonathan Pollard."
I am mad some Muslim terrorist duped the Army and the FBI.
Aren't you?
Not always. Just ask the FBI and CIA about that little traitor Pollard. Sometimes its just to get their little hands on classified information.
One: Show me
Two: Americans staying in Israel should not be allowed to vote? What if they are in Canada instead? Florida retirees vacationing in Israel do not take Israeli citizenship.
What different would that make if you are a traitor? If you are a terrorist you would probably try to deceive this country like this Muslim did. This is what you should be ranting about:
Al-Qaeda terrorist duped FBI, Army [ trained as Green Beret and was US Army Sargent]
You are entitled to believe whatever you believe. What does JESUS CHRIST have to do with this thread by the way?
Great idea. I like that.
"Not that there is anything wrong with it" but we would not have asked if you had not told.
I have a feeling, though, we dont have all the story here, particularly given the fact that he approached the press. As an ex Ranger (?), there are other units in which he could serve. The article ignores the fact that he is an expert on Middle Eastern affairs, and an advisor to several Israeli think tanks (odd, since he has written for the JP). Given the nature of some of his writings (see links), and particularly the fact that he is in a linguistics unit, his background would appear to be a real asset in MI.
A natural born US citizen for his first 17 years, the service in the IDF would have been mandatory when his family relocated. It wasnt his option. Interestingly he returned here after his 3 years of service. The loyalty issue, based on his youthful IDF service and dual-citizenship is nonsense. Most 17 year olds will relocate with their family.
I suspect there were reasons for his clearance loss that we dont know. It could be as simple as the time spent training with his unit, since he seems to have active in other pursuits the last 6-7 years.
. . . . I think that the Major should be reinstated to his duties. Being Jewish is not a sign of disloyalty.I agree. But when you are a intelligence officer whining to a newspaper is, especially if you are whining about your security clearance being yanked. Given that he went running to the press, do you really think this man should be reinstated to a top security clearence and an intelligence unit? If his clearence was yanked for being Jewish that was clearly wrong, but two wrongs don't make a right.

Watching Fox and MSNBC during the florida mess, both channels said that absentee ballots from overseas were 1) military personnel and 2) American citizens living in Isreal. Since you take your marching orders from Israel, why dont you call Tel Aviv and ask them, or call the DNC. Im sure they also have those figures.
and since I believe in JESUS CHRIST as God's son,am I anti semetic too ???I do think both can apply, and perhaps do in this case. Just because you ate a sandwich for lunch, doesnt mean you didnt also eat a bag of nuts. Or were a bag of nuts.

I guess you proved my point. Im talking national loyalty and you've converted that into religious loyalty. I can differentiate the two, apparently you dual citizens cant.
You really should be able to distinguish between rumors and facts- even if it was on TV.
