Didn't our side just move all of the carrier groups into the Persian Gulf, or close to it??? If so, this would put us on the east of Iraq, Israel on the west and our big bases in Turkey on the North with A few other large basis in the South, not to mention air bases in Saudi...I'd be sweatin' bullets if'n I were So-ddum...

As $hitty, painful, and dirty as this war is going to get, this is probably going to happen if we are to win. The thing is that Saddam has virtually no friends as Turkey and Iran hate his guts. The Saud family hates him as well. However, this notion of invading Isreal is only for the hating masses who want Isreal off the map.

And this is the trick: all bio stuff exposed to temperatures of several million degrees. Same for a significant portion of the Saddamians. Yeah, I think the rest would be quite peaceful, once they dared stick their heads out of the fallout shelters.

By threatening to attack Israel, Hussein is actually speaking to the Arab nations, not to us. He is trying to enlist the Arab countries on his side against an American attack which he knows is coming.

Wouldn't an announcement like this have the opposite effect? The other Arab countries would encourage the bombing of Iraq if they thought Hussein would actually retaliate against israel.
