Well... he sure is worried about us finding out something about what he did or didn't do. I've never seen him so guilty acting. Clinton was more interested in turning the FBI into his own secret police force to crush his political opponents rather than investigating crime and terrorism.

Thank you for this post, which speaks for itself.
I doubt whether clinton really wanted this to happen. Or if he did, certainly not on Bush's watch. I did suspect, right up to the end, that he would welcome a terrorist attack that would let him declare that State of Emergency that would shut down Congress and the Supreme Court and let him get on with ruling the country through FEMA. Then maybe he could have extended his time in office.
For those less conspiratorially inclined, it's evident that clinton had other uses for the FBI and the CIA than protecting our country and its citizens. He used them to go after political enemies, to demonize the right, to stir up hatred against pro-lifers, to demonize "Christian fundamentalists" and the like. They scarcely had time to pursue real criminals or real threats to our country's security.

What about the talk last year of the possibility of Clinton finding a way to extend his time in office beyond his eight years? Perhaps it was that he was expecting something like this during his watch.

Good job. Thanks

yeah sure..Clinton knew about this but didnt stop it..shame on all of you. Actually *Nixon* knew of this possibility or at least was provided with a report that included as much in his first term. Then Tom Clancy wrote a scenario. The fact is that anyone who was awake to the real world knew. Clinton was just too busy with his narcissistic pursuits to give a damn. And he did pull intelligence agents away from investigating Bin Laden to go after international video and CD pirates for his Hollywood friends.

I've never seen him so guilty acting. If nothing else (and it's a BIG IF to assume there is "nothing else"), Billy Boy knows that from the long view of history, this is going to be his legacy: Knowing it was coming but doing nothing about it.
Of course, he should actually be relieved about this. I'd rather be remembered for a massive policy screwup than a love of oral sex.

Perhaps it was that he was expecting something like this during his watch.I think it's obvious from the postings on FR that a significant percentage of the American public would not have stood for anything like this. If he had attempted anything like this following a 9/11-style attack, he'd have had far more to worry about from his own citizens than from ObL.

Maybe you are right, but Clinton's approval rating seemed high at the time. And if he was expecting something like 9/11 to happen on his watch in anticipation of extending his term beyond eight years, wouldn't it have been somewhat evident that he was aware of impending danger to U.S. citizens? Granted, it is currentlly weak circumstantial evidence, but I for one wouldn't put it past that man who still turns my stomach at the mention of his name.
