May I suggest "The Cowboys". Real men start young.

I embarrassed a nice man who was attempting to help a lady. I wasn't lady enough to let him. I bet he never offered to help a lady again.

Don’t worry, Peggy – If he was a real man, he just thought you rude and gave you no further thought. And he never stopped being a gentleman because of you.

He’d probably be very happy to learn that you got better, though.

Y'all can honor "The Duke" by renting his opus, THE ALAMO, this weekend. Pay attention to what he says about "the republic".

THE DEFINITION OF A GENTLEMAN; FROM AMERICA'S GREATEST MAN:

"The forbearing use of power does not only form a touchstone, but the manner in which an individual enjoys certain advantages over others is a test of a true gentleman. The power which the strong have over the weak, the employer over the employed, the educated over the unlettered, the experienced over the confiding, even the clever over the silly-the forbearing or inoffensive use of all this power or authority, or a total abstinence from it when the case admits it, will show the gentleman in a plain light. The gentleman does not needlessly and unnecessarily remind an offender of a wrong he may have committed against him. He cannot only forgive, he can forget; and he strives for that nobleness of self and mildness of character which impart sufficient strength to let the past be but the past. A true man of honor feels humbled himself when he cannot help humbling others." --Robert E. Lee

They get in girly arguments with women, they cry like women, and they demand "sensitivity." New York used to be their breeding ground, I know because I saw it when I was there.

You were just going to the wrong bars. Try any of the dirty old saloons in Hell’s Kitchen next time. (Don’t wear a suit.)

I have told my husband that should I suddenly die and leave him a widower, if he wants to honor my memory, he should do all he can to pursue and marry Peggy Noonan.

The characters played by John Wayne are what is missed. John (Marion) Wayne was an actor, not a hero. You want a hero? I give you Audie Murphy, Chesty Puller, and any of the marines that were with him.

Also from your self-ascribed hero:

We have fought this fight as long, and as well as we know how. We have been defeated. For us as a Christian people, there is now but one course to pursue. We must accept the situation.

Without going into details, I can personally attest that Ms. Noonan is a very warm and gracious woman. Like her, I can remember brief flashes of inanity in my younger days in (politely) refusing help from men in lifting luggage, etc., but I have learned my lesson. Now I make a point of smiling and saying thank you to men who hold doors for me, help me with luggage, or give me their seats (making exceptions only for obvious weirdos). I'll take a manly and gentlemanly man any day! Kudos to Peggy for another beautifully written piece.

P.S. If you care to read an extraordinary essay, and for all I know, it may have already been posted here, take the time to read her piece, "There Is No Time, There Will Be Time" republished in the WSJ a week or so ago. I first read it in Forbes ASAP three years ago and have never forgotten it. It is one of the most prescient and profound essays I have ever read.

It appears that Morell just doesn't see the charm, elegance & femininity of Peggy as we do.

It really bugs me when some buffoon is profaning a true lady as Peggy Noonan.

.......and to be a Peggy Noonan kind of man, it helps to have a real woman around. There have been more than a few of them showing up, thank the Lord, in these last few weeks.

A tip of your hat to those ladies is in order, gentlemen.
