WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush authorized on Friday a payment on the United States' back dues to the United Nations, and said he hopes the money will enhance America's "close bond" with the international body.

Bush signed a Senate bill authorizing the second of three payments of the arrears. Bush said the payment fulfills the commitment he made to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan in March.

Isn't it ironic that the government tells people to get off welfare in America and to stand up for independence in America,

I can only shake my head. When will these Bush-lovers ever learn. ...I don't think they will until it's too late. There are so many republicans that are in bed with the democrats, and so many of those are New World Order folks. Bush is well on his way to selling out this country to that very NWO. What a well named outfit - UN; as in unneccesary,unqualified,unwanted,and most important, un - United States of America. The UN is part of the problem, why honor them. We will have attacked and got the war over with by the time they get done with their committees and studies to see if they should help us! Between the UN and environmental fruitcakes, I would say I've just discovered another group of terrorists, as far as America being free is concerned.

Sorry Dubya, still support your presidency, but we don't need these losers to help us solve our problem; would take launching nules over having UN military trying to direct our troops - of which I support neither. Believe this is going to be the toughest war ever undertaken and victory will not be obvious becasue of the cowardnous of the adversary, but we will be victorious in the end.

Dear Mr President:

Please reconsider. Perhaps you think that you will be able to keep the lid on them, you very well may be able to, but many of us don't think the next Bill Clinton will have such designs. Some of us recognize the need for certain strategic alliances (ie the relationship between Great Britain and the US), but such alliances must be in the best interests of the United States. Advancing global socialism is not one of our interests.

It really sounds stupid to me when I hear some of these replies. If you don't want us to be in the U.N. (and I don't want us there) then lets work on getting us out. It's not like Bush is able to decide: Well I'm not into the U.N. so during my term in office the U.S. is not going to be a member. And if we as a member agree to pay something then I'd like to pay it. I don't want the world to see America as a nation who's word is no good. Let's talk to those who we voted into office, and get ourselves OUT. Don't call Bush a one-termer because he/we are a man of his/our word.

I've been shaking my head for about a week now over the incomprehensible turn *diplomacy* has taken. Two weeks ago, when I thought Condi Rice was in charge, and Rumsfeld had a clue, it was great. The whole world was breathless to see what we would do to avenge these horrific acts of war, including many young people and discharged Veterans who ran, not walked to their nearest recruiters' offices.
And then Colin Powell kept talking into the camera, and Peres kept talking into the camera. Both were told to shut up, but it only made them louder and more determined.
I am not sure at what point I began to feel that familiar kick to the stomach, but it was there and wouldn't go away no matter what. I tried to believe that Bush was so much more than anyone ever gave him credit for. Waiting and waiting to see what his next move would be.
Ever since the election I've been telling everyone that Bush was a good man. He would never let us down. He knew the right thing and would do it, even if the entire world said otherwise. I thought he proved it with the envirowhacks and the Kyodo Treaty, Missile Defense, like it or lump it.
Now, I am coming from numbness and going on an ammo run forthwith.
