If a nuke is ever used on us, we should make the world tremble with the thought of ever using one again.

If Oswami Ben Leaden had nukes he would have used them instead of going to all the trouble to get pilots trained, airliners simultaneously hijacked, and the having them crash into structures with pinpoint precision.

No it doesn't. No need to show his full hand right off. That would also have given us the immediate green light to annihilate their entire country within hours as a deterent.

Also note the article is from APRIL. Why "merely" take out the World Trade Center, wasting 15-20 perfectly good, expensively-trained terrorists in the process, when he could simply have one terrorist go to Times Square and let a suitcase nuke off? If he's going to risk a reprisal so strong it will likely destroy his entire operation anyway, why only go out with a comparative whimper?

Or, why not set them off at 20 collegiate football games on Saturday? He has no nukes. But, left to his own devices, he will acquire some. ELIMINATE HIM AND ALL HIS ILK, AND ALL THE COUNTRIES THAT AID AND ABET HIM AND HIS KIND NOW.

If Bin Laden uses just one of his "suitcase" nukes, he would not be able to destroy the United States, but, you can be assured that every terrorist supporting regime and their inhabitants would cease to exist on this planet. Is he willing to pay that kind of price?

You said: "If Bin Laden uses just one of his "suitcase" nukes, ... you can be assured that every terrorist supporting regime and their inhabitants would cease to exist on this planet."

I would hope that the events of this week means that every terrorist supporting regime would cease to exist on this planet.

He may be reserving the nukes until we go after him. In which case we had better be prepared to see a mushroom cloud over NY City.

TERRORISM AND USAMA BIN LADEN
"The current trial of Usama Bin Laden and others for the August 7, 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar al-Salaam, Tanzania, has shed new light on the efforts of Bin Laden and his terrorist organization, Al-Qa’ida (“The Base”), to acquire weapons of mass destruction. Prosecution witness Jamal Ahmad al-Fadl detailed his efforts to assist Bin Laden in an attempt to acquire uranium, presumably for the development of nuclear weapons, from a source in Khartoum, Sudan, in late 1993 or early 1994. Although Bin Laden has made statements in the past regarding his interest in acquiring weapons of mass destruction for a jihad (holy war) against the West, Al-Fadl’s testimony—if it proves to be credible and accurate—provides important evidence of his actions to do so.

Although the information that Al-Fadl revealed in the trial has probably been known for some time by the U.S. government, it adds important new information to the public domain on the efforts of Bin Laden and Al-Qa’ida to acquire nuclear weapons, including specific names and places. CIA Director George Tenet, addressing the U.S. Congress on February 7, 2001, referred to Bin Laden as one of the leading threats to U.S. national security at home and abroad. It is therefore important to understand this threat in a realistic and accurate manner."

CLINTON DECLARES HIS WAR ON OSAMA BIN LADEN

Bin Laden’s New Threats
"Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security David Carpenter on Wednesday briefed reporters on threats to U.S. facilities, highlighting the threat bin Laden and his organization pose. Here are excerpts of his prepared remarks:

“From August 1998 to the end of January 1999, U.S. diplomatic facilities received over 650 threats related to the Osama bin Laden organization (UBLO) and the east African bombings, and these threats were received on every continent. We emphasize that this figure does not include threats from indigenous terrorist groups, state sponsors of terrorism, or threats generated from U.S. foreign policy or military actions such as those involving Serbia and Iraq …

“The UBLO has been the primary generator of threat information against U.S. diplomatic facilities overseas. As I mentioned, over 650 threats have been linked to this organization or to the east African bombings since 1998. Our analysts believe that about 33 percent of these threats are ‘viable’ threats, that is, they are either logical, consistent with previous reporting of UBLO tendencies, or based on credible intelligence reports or walk-ins.

“Currently, the UBLO appears to be the most dangerous terrorist threat to U.S. diplomatic facilities and personnel overseas. This organization reportedly has a presence in over 25 countries and its tentacles may spread to many more. It is dangerous because it has a potentially global reach, it appears well-financed, it has the protection of one and possibly two states, it has a dedicated cadre, it engages in suicide attacks, it has an avowedly anti-American ideology, and it appears to have plugged into or provides support to over a half-dozen indigenous terrorist groups around the world.”

Are Suitcase Nukes on the Loose? The Story Behind the Controversy

Tiny Nukes-- the backpack threat - links

SUITCASE NUKES

In Yousef Bodansky's book, Bin Laden: The Man Who Declared War on America he states this chilling fact. "Although there is debate over the precise quantities of weapons purchased, there is no longer doubt that Bin Laden has finally succeeded in the quest for nuclear suitcase bombs." Bodansky reveals that bin Laden bought them through the Chechen mafia, paying $30 million cash plus two tons of Afghan heroin.2 Each suitcase bomb has the potential to kill roughly 100,000 people depending on location.

The bad news is that Bin Laden has nuclear weapons. The good news might be that many leaders with Islamic populations may have more to fear than the West.

Destroying the great satan America is not his ultimate goal, but only a means to reclaiming and purifying his homeland.

Nuclear weapons have more power when they are not used. Even madmen recognize that if you use a nuclear weapon on a nuclear power, your serve will be returned with much more intensity than it was delivered.

His delusions of returning to his homeland may be predicated on the basis of possessing nuclear weapons as leverage in negotiating his return.

If this is true, then when we might get more cooperation from Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula where Bin Laden's terrorists and money are really coming from.

Fine. If he doesn't use them, he will be UNABLE to use them sooner rather than later (nukes are tempermental beasts and need constant maintenance by someone with a LOT more education and training than that possessed by a typical sheep-fornicating terrorist recruit).

If Bin Laden uses just one of his "suitcase" nukes,

And the seed of their future generations will will be lost forever. I think that is one of the few points that we can move them on.
