If joel really had the truth that helped christian's suceed at hliness or entering heaven, it would seem that by Christ's highest commandment, he would give the books away. Can't you get Bible's free? If it is good enough for the good book it should be good enough for his book. LOL

Abraham did not get his wealth by preaching. Ditto Solomon.

So it's cool to make a buck on Jesus if you do it in a book? So anyone who writes a book about Jesus should be condemned? By your standard, Christian bookstores should be condemned. People who print Bibles and make a profit should be condemned....

1) Sorry, I have read the bible, cover to cover, several times. have you? I'm not saying this to brag but as a point of fact. I asked the question of you because your post clearly implies that you've never read GOD blessings will be upon those who praise and worship him. (My apologies, but I can not come up with the chapter and verse at work)
2) Sorry but your post "DOES" clearly imply that you think he got his money by misuse or taking advantage of the word of GOD. Let's reread your post together ....
You wrote:
I approve of the free market, and if it makes you rich, then good for you. But if you make merchandise of the word of God, you'll answer to him.
Now, how has Joel made merchandise of the word of GOD? and since you've read the bible, can you show me the passage in the bible that supports your statement.. "if you make merchandise of the word of God, you'll answer to him."
It's been posted several times here that Joel accepts no money from his church in the way of salary. Do you have any proof to the contrary?
Your post imply that you have a real issue with any man of GOD having money. Perhaps your beef is with GOD and not the man making the money. God will bless those of his choosing. I'll ask again, are you so bold as to question GOD's blessing of another person?

His books are sold in Walmart, Books A Million, Walden's, Sams, Amazon and just about anywhere that sells the top selling books. Lakewood is big but not big enough to make the New York Times Best Seller list. He's number 5 this week right behind Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Life. ;)
You don't know why people go to Lakewood any more than why people go to your church if you go to church. Where people decide to worship is usually a personal decision.
Where do you get that buying a specific preacher's book means that they are buying their way into heaven? I don't agree with everything Joel Osteen preaches but I do know that he preaches the gospel.

Your class warfare whinning is worthy of the Dummy board. Waaahhh, they have more money than me. Why are you doing that? That statement would fit right in there too.

If you consider his messages preaching. I haven't heard him say to anyone repent of your sins or you're going to hell.

Last time I listen/read, most of the Protestant preachers today preach that Jesus descended into hell. Although I do not believe that he was in a physical burning hell battling Satan, he certainly was dead (the definition of hell years ago, before the turn of the century was the grave, nothing more) he was indeed dead for three days then GOD bought him back to life as a spirit being.
I'll ask my question a different way ....

I was referring to Joel Osteen's predilection of preaching heresy.
What Heresy? Please supply supporting info. I the link you provided and as I stated above, most preachers are saying that. Was there something more in that link that was more significant?

I love the Salvation Army. It saved my brother's life. But there is plenty of politics and BS with the SA also, unfortunately.

Yes you are absolutely correct but they were both very powerful men of GOD. Does not it stand to reason that they may have had just a little influence over those people in their lives they touched to know the power and glory of loving and obeying GOD? ie just because they were not listed as preachers doesn't mean they did not preach. I have no doubt that Abraham taught his household about GOD, including his child and grandchildren. It also stands to reason that Solomon did the same, especially given that he wrote the book of Proverbs.

I give the Osteens the benefit of the doubt. So do I ... I am impressed that the Osteens did not turn this into a media circus / publicity stunt as many notable persons would have done.
I am not a member of his church, but Joel Osteen seems to be sincere, and practices what he preaches ... he has a good message ... makes a nice presentation. God Bless the Osteens.

You would think anyone would be just a little bit upset if their seat was wet on a thousand mile flight. Question is, how did the seat get wet? Was some airline employee expressing themselves?

I just looked it up with a Google search. Todd Bassett, CEO of the Salvation Army gets $13,000 per year plus housing.
