If you get the chance read "The Last 100 Days" by John Toland. It's a pretty good account of the end of the Reich.

I've thought the same thing...nature abhors straight lines, and buildings are fraught with them Tell me about it! Mortars need an open area and commoing the postion is tough, the nets break up the shape but they're kinda obvious if they're the only tall things standing in an open field. LOL!

Morning Johnny.
It was bizarre, some towns put up fanatical resistance and others the units just rolled through. One never knew what lay around the next bend in the roud of the next town. Everyone had to know it was over and didn't want to get killed or wounded in the last days. The pressure on the nerves had to be awful.

Start out with just enough I can do a thread on and then you can see how you like writing and turn it into a novel.
