One of the most successful Glider assaults took place on D-Day at Pegasus Bridge.



Pegasus Bridge from the Air. The circle on the left shows the position of the Cafe Gondree. The 3 circles on the right show the positions of the 3 gliders. The tall building on the right is a later addition in a spot occupied by a pillbox at the time of the landing.

Of course the Germans used Gliders in Belgium in 1940 to capture Fortress Eben-Emael on the Albert Canal from the air.
