Evening PhilDragoo. I was wondering where you were last night. The Foxhole just isn't complete without your post.

What a difference the world may have taken had AU-H2O been elected!

It's taken this country a long time and hopefully the tide will continue to turn our way.

You were missed.

While the fall of Saigon was going on, I was stationed at the Defense Language Institute in Montery, CA. During this time my father in law died and I was flying back to Virginia to be with my wife.

On my plane returning from the west coast to the east coast I had an individual on the plane with me who had just gotten out of Saigon. I will never forget the blank look on his face of pure shock and the stories he told me about the evacuation.

He told me he was put on a bus in Saigon to go to the evacuation point. All along the route, Vietnamese were running along the side of the bus carrying children, begging them to stop and at least take the children with them. Some of the mothers, in desperation, attempted to throw their babies into the bus through the windows. At times the babies would miss the windows only to fall and be run over by the bus.

I still feel for that poor guy and the horror he must have witnessed. I am sure after that experience he will never be the same again.

No he guessed wrong on what impact organizations like Free Republic and others would have on their ablility to spread the truth and communicate with the American public. If we had had something like this in the 60's and 70's Southeast Asia would had been different.

Glad to see you onboard friend. BTW, we agree. The internet changes things totally. No more liberal brainwashing from the media. They have PROVED their anti-American bias, and marxist/socialist leanings. Can't stand to watch CNN. (We used to call it the Clinton News Network, but not so sure it shouldn't just be called the Communist News Network.. same thing really). We do like Fox News. Refreshing and boy does that drive the socialists mad :o)

Feel free to ping us to any articles you write or things you think we might find of interest.

FRegards, Vets

The helicopter with the number 22 is a CH-46 belonging to HMM-164 which was serving aboard the USS Hancock at the time. The HMM-164 call sign was Swift. This is the famous helicopter, Swift-22, which was photographed atop the embassy.
