Good idea, you might want to Freepmail it to Tonk. I know he'll be interested. Will do.

Check out post 69 from Mama_bear, I think this gut needs your "Special Attention" Thanks, SAM.
BTW, Tonk, Chong gave me his e-mail address, I'll pass it on to anyone who wants to give him a piece of their mind. I will be writing to him shortly. I don't expect to change his mind, but I'm sure it will make me feel better. :-)

Thanks for the ping.
Chong, Thanks for alerting us to this idiot.
My response:
"I think you missed your chance to stand up for "your beliefs".
The "human shield idiots" have already left for Iraq.
Please pic up Hanoi Jane and join them.
Help America win the war on terror by leaving it once and for all."

At that time I was Company operation sergeant with an amphibious (LARC) unit.
We were on standby in case the port wasnt taken intact. Every single enlisted soldier came up to me and begged for a chance to go. Every one of them wanted to be on the A list in case the whole Company wasnt needed.
As it turned out none were needed, and I had to disappoint a lot of troops.
LARC LX amphibious vehicle.

68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub;
Thank you very much for your response. I'm still revising my email to him, for I need to tone it down some more yet.
SAMWolf, thank you for all your help with this. I appreciate it.
Mama_Bear, thanks for all you do. :-)
Hope y'all have a GReat day!

No problem, Chong. Glad Mama_bear brought it to our attention. If we get lucky we'll crash his E-mail server.

I know. Actually, I meant what types of small arms did they have? I know that the Grenadan forces had older AK-47s, SKSs, and Czechoslovak vz. 52s, among others, I heard that the CUbans had AKMs, and that they may have had SVDs. I am curious what else they may have had.

I know we had it then, but do we still have what it takes to fight Communism? I worry about Venezuela, and Brazil.

Thanks for posting this. Just this past September, we honeymooned in Grenada - it's a beautiful tropical island. The people are very poor but friendly, with low crime, very little drug problems, etc. Most of the elementary schools are run by churches. It would be sad to contemplate what it would be like there without the US intervening to keep out the communists.
It's still a bit of a sad time for the folks down there to remember, so they don't talk about it much (e.g., during the initial coup, some of their leaders were executed by the revolutionaries).
But thanks to the US, it's still a beautiful place to live and visit.
