Thanks for the update. Glad this wasn’t more serious. You must be exhausted. Could you use some chicken soup? We deliver!
Follow up with your VA doctor. Call Telecare and tell them what happened. Request they get a copy of your records from the ER you went to. They can get them by email in about two hours. I know from experience.
Good luck and glad you went to the ER. Never take a chance.
I got out in 1973 and have used the VA off and on for years. Back in 2011 I started going there full time with no plans in changing.
The only bad experience I had was 9 months after I got out. And it was a bad one. I had my tonsils taken out and almost bled to death. But, I’m still here!
No problem.
I have a card that gives me the choice. However, it’s only if I can’t get treated within 30 days at the VA. And that’s also only if the provider will accept the VA “insurance”.
But that’s a “test” program and has nothing to do with emergencies.
Before I go to a local ER I always call the telenurse. They ask questions from a “book” and the answers determine if I should go to a local ER or if I can wait. I’ve never been disappointed. And they always call about an hour later to confirm I went to the ER.
I guess it just depends on the staffing and the location and the budget of the VA Hospitals. The ones I’ve been too have provided as good of service as any civilian hospital. And that especially includes the AFB in Albuquerque, MN.
Checking in... hoping you are feeling better today...
hanging in, thanks!
just had church family, from Colombia, bring me a papaya...
I guess that’s what they do in Colombia! But, it’s good :)
Appetite is good, lots of fluids too, and plenty of rest... Glad you have ‘church family’ checking in on you.

It’s actually one of those wives tales that are true.
The skin of the papaya contains a beneficial yeast ,Saccharomyces boulardii , that feeds on bad bacteria and stuff in your gut that is bad for you . It’s really good for you. That beneficial yeast only stays in your body a few days .
It would be a good idea to order some of that strain of probiotic yeast and take it for a few weeks (you can get it on Amazon )
Glad you are ok :)
I found out recently that there is a very short period within which to ask the VA to pay for civilian ER treatment.
Watch out for that one.
Glad you’re better.
Checking in to see how you are doing?
