Prayerful Thinking

Read:
Psalm 8

What is man that You are mindful of him? —Psalm 8:4

Bible In One Year: Deuteronomy 32-34; Mark 15:26-47

cover Augustine was one of the most brilliant Christian thinkers of all time. Interestingly, he did some of his most effective and intimate praying while engaged in deep thought. He was what might be called a "prayerful thinker." Often Augustine began a line of reasoning, then concluded it with a prayer. Here is a sample from Confessions, one of his works on theology:

"Too late came I to love You, O Beauty both ancient and ever new; too late came I to love You. . . . You called to me; yes, You even broke open my deafness. Your beams shined unto me and cast away my blindness."

These are not the dry musings of some pseudo-theologian or armchair philosopher. They are the thoughts of someone with a passionate prayer life.

Prayerful thinking is not unique to Augustine. David pondered the beauty of creation and felt compelled to worship his Creator: "When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him?" (Psalm 8:3-4).

As we walk life's journey, our deep thoughts and feelings and our praying can be interwoven. Seeing the beauty of nature, or even solving a problem, can be opportunities for prayerful thinking. —Dennis Fisher

Thoughts To Ponder
What does it mean that God has "crowned man with glory and honor"? (Psalm 8:5). What does that mean for me today at work and at home?

Prayerful thinking leads to purposeful thanking.

She has a wad of old keys she like to play with. She picked up her keys and made a beeline for the only outlet upstairs without a kiddie cover on it. Did I mention these are metal keys yet?

I used a bobby pin myself. Only got it into one side of the outlet before I got caught. I don't think they had kiddie covers when I was little.

Did I mention that my mom had a full head of white hair by age 40? BWAAAHAHAHAHA

Good evenin'!

Weeelllll, it's a Sunday Morning Bump for the Freeper Foxhole from Kansas City. Kansas City is expecting a major winter storm to hit starting Monday afternoon. We could get 6 to 9 inches of the white stuff. The storm is expected to start just after the official start of spring!!!

Who knows maybe I will wake up Tuesday morning to this scene...

Y'all have a great day

Regards

Psalm 121

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

King James Version

An interesting Kansas City Weather factoid. KC had only about 1.5" of snow for winter this year. However last December before the offical start of winter we had 9.5" of snow.

The good news is that now the Weather Service is only calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow!!! I guess that's better than 6-9 inches.
