A bit later in the telecast, General Westmoreland stated he did not accept the revised figures because of "political reasons." In perhaps the most damaging and dramatic scene, he said on camera that "the people in Washington were not sophisticated enough to understand and evaluate this [militia-guerrilla] thing, and neither was the media."I pulled this from that interesting article, thanks for the link by the way.
This caught my eye because I believe what the General was saying was true and probably still is today.

I may be completely wrong but I think this subject was discussed a couple years ago at the Foxhole and I recall that the camo schemes were used to confuse the type of radar at the time and I'm thinking the reason it isn't needed is now is because technology has surpassed that hurdle. Aomagrat, am I close?

Westmoreland was NOT the youngest Major General in the history of the U.S Army at 42. George Armstrong Custer was, at the age of 24. LOL. Picky, picky!
Perhaps they don't list Custer as the youngest because Custer was a Brevet Major-General.

LOL, I identify with the polar bear. It feels like that out there today. I took the kids to the park this morning. I slathered 'em up with sunscreen. Wouldn't ya know, I forgot to finish my sunscreen regiment. You can see exactly where I had sunscreen and where there wasn't any. I'm pretty lobsterfied, but at least I did remember ~some~ sunscreen.

Our weather has been decent for about 3 days now. Humidity is much lower even though the temps are in the mid 80s.
Nights cooling down to 60 and tonight to the 50s. YAY
I do not have the AC running now.
