Good Mornning to all, Good luck to SAM and snippy in fitting 60 plus folks into a space for 50 :-)
I just happen to have a few colour pics of German armour from WW-II. Most of these are from the Russian Front and came from the German Magazine "Signal" IIRC. The tanks look like MK IIIs or MK IVs with the short barrel weapon.

Speaking of Rommel here is a Pic captioned...Rommel Sollumfront - Mai-Juni 1941. Is this in Russia or had Rommel made it to Africa by Late Spring of 1941?

G'day ladies. Flag-o-Gram.
OK, so it is a repeat.

A wonderful account of the campaign in France is a book called "Guderian's XIXth Panzer Corps and the Battle of France: Breakthrough in the Ardennes, May 1940". It does not seem to be available now, except pricey editions on Amazon, but it is one of the clearest and best written military histories I have ever read. Author was a US Army officer I believe. Great book if it is available at the local library.

That looks like Africa, Alfa. There's a guy in a pith helmet in the background.

Happy Treadhead Tuesday. Good thread. I doubt 10th Panzer minded the transfer from the Russian front to Africa.
Good luck with your Chamber meeting. Those can help get the word out on a new business.

I do not think Rommel ever made it to Russia. I believe he was in Africa before the Russian campaign kicked off.
To: Steelerfan
That sounds right to me, without checking. Besides his posts in Germany, I remember Rommel for being in Poland (as Hitler's aide), France and Africa.

Sam says Rommel got to Africa February 1941. Africa is correct. :-)

Thanks ct. We attend the meetings almost every Wednesday but tomorrow we get to host it here at the store so that will be fun. It's better to have them here in person that just hear about us. Now if they'll all just buy something on their way out... :-)

I thought about you birders today. Last night a pigeon flew down the chimney into our fireplace. (Apparently we left the flue open the last time we burned.) Of course it was too stupid to find its way out. The cat stood guard at the fireplace screen all night. The bird quit flapping - no use trying to escape the fireplace into the paws of a cat, right? The animal removal guy showed up this morning and grabbed the bird. My son wanted to "pet" the birdie, who got away! But, we had an open skylight in the ceiling. The bird saw daylight and out it went.
I'm sure the memory of the whole thing was seared, seared in that bird's brain. Speaking of a birdbrain . . . . Yeeeeeaaaaaaggggggghhhhhh!

They're Mk IIIs.
Rommel never made it to Russia, he was in Africa in Feb 1941.
