Nice to share those things with others who find the same meaning in them. Yep, that would be us. ;-)

Evening Grace Folks~
I hope everyone has had a blessed and solemn Memorial Day. A heartfelt thanks for the service our beloved soldiers gave so that we could enjoy the fruits of their sacrifice.
I am so bloody sore from three 10hr. days of exterior painting. And I have one more day to go. But you know what? I wouldn't be enjoying all this soreness were it not for our men and woman who gave the lives for me. God bless them and there loved ones . . .

The young FReepess just figured out what light switches are for.

I attended a Memorial Service in my community this morning. All the veterans attending were invited go sit on the stage and were each asked to introduce themselves and identify when and where they served. We owe so much to all of you who served! Several speakers, including our U.S. Representatives in Congress, pointed out that there are 206,000 veterans that are homeless, living on the streets. What a disgrace! I don't think that most people are even aware of this. Every one of them has given so much to our country, we owe them so much more than this. Please contact your Representatives and Senators and urge them to make this issue a priority.

Very touching photographs. I didn't know the Scouts did this. Good for them!

Good evening. I don't envy your condition after all that painting. Pain in the neck, arms, back etc. You'll have to get back to work just to rest.

Don't let your Congress critters paint an ugly picture of veterans to you.
Consider this. If one out of every three Americans are veterans, then one out of every three homeless people will be veterans. The same is true of people with mental disabilities or drug and/or alcohol addictions. Granted, it's a shame but not everyone can be helped back to productivity. There are programs available specifically for homeless veterans. There is also a lot of grants available to those providing assistance.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if we could take care of our own before we provided benefits to illegals coming in this country or sending our tax dollars to other countries. America first, instead of billions spent around the world, how about we take care of our own first, not with handouts necessarily but with jobs.
