Anyway, they can still use them as a mirror.Saves a lot of weight if you don't have to paint them :-)

I have a pretty good collection of Battle of Britain books. "The Narrow Margin" is one of my favorites

The invasion of the French Riviera. It was a dirty job but someone had to do it.

Let me have the best solutions worked out. Don't argue the matter. The difficulties will argue for themselves. -

Those are bad odds - for the jihadis. What a pity - I think they've run out of virgins in paradise.
Go get 'em Poland!

10 to 1 odds. I'd give the edge to the Poles. :-)

This sergeant remembers another D-Day

Grumman F6F-3 Hellcats also were flown by American pilots over the invasion beaches in southern France during Operation Anvil.

After the fall of Rome, Audie Murphy and his group had a short leave, to prepare for Operation Anvil, the liberation of southern France. There, he again was remarkably lucky and ruthless at the same, killing several enemy soldiers in face-to-face gun battles.
In June 1945, Audie Murphy returned to Texas and was given a hero's welcome. He was awarded the Medal of Honour (above picture, with Gen. Mike O'Daniel) and left the army. His decorations included the the abovementioned, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star, four Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, the European Theatre Medal with seven Battle Stars and lots more. In 1948 he was awarded the Cross of the Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in Paris.
And may I add, Senator Kerry, that I knew Audie Murphy, and you, Senator, are no Audie Murphy.

Evening Phil Dragoo
Historical footnotes say German resistance was scattered in the south, but that does not explain the thousands of names on graves and monuments - French, American, Australian, British.
It always seems "easier" for the historians than for the participants.
And may I add, Senator Kerry, that I knew Audie Murphy, and you, Senator, are no Audie Murphy
Hell, Kerry barely qualifies as a Benedict Arnold, Benedict Arnold at least was a hero before he turned traitor.

LOL!
Like what you did with Kerry's book. :-)
