Words fail me.

They fail me as well for the most part. My primary reaction since yesterday has been one long, drawn out, mental scream. I just want to go over there and start shooting people. I'm really starting to develop a deep hatred, not just of Islam as a faith, but of muslims in general.

If I were still in the military, and stationed in Iraq, I fear what my reaction would be. I know this--the people of Falluja wouldn't want me anywhere near their city with a weapon.

Surprisingly light casualties on our side.
that was pretty much a major win for ourside it seems.
And Newsweek had the photo of an ammo dump going sky high as their cover photo?
Treasonous b***ards then, and still treasonous now.

I know exactly what my reaction would be, and the reaction of my merry band of rogues and pirates.
We'd have either gone AWOL and headed over there to do whatever damage we could, or we'd have taken the whole unit with us to do some urban renewal with the howitzers.
It's a good thing that I'm not in uniform anymore, such feelings are not becoming of a professional soldier in uniform.
Revenge is better left for amatuers, the better thing is to defeat them and crush them rather than take revenge.
But revenge would soothe the feelings.

We should be home tomorrow, we're taking a truck stop post and run stop! All is well.

Recycled name from WWII

I remembered something about this and had to ask Sam. We covered Operation Market Garden and it was because of the failure of that Operation that the Operation Pegasus was needed. And of course I remember the Foxhole covering the capture of the Pegasus Bridge so we've heard a lot about this name.

I'll suggest to Sam that he should see if he can find enough info on this to do a thread. Thanks.

In the night of 22nd on 23rd October 1944 Operation Pegasus I took place. 138 British Paratroopers and airmen and Dutch resistance workers took part in on of the biggest allied escape-operations in WWII. On the northern bank of the River Rhine they were picked up by US Paratroopers of the 3rd Platoon of Easy Company, 506th PIR.

Hi Darksheare. Revenge would ease the anger perhaps too. I just can't see sitting back and "processing" these murderous b*stards unless it's processing them through a pork packing plant. I want them dead.

Try Arnhem Archive. Click on the biography pages of Brigadier Gerald Lathbury and LtCol David Dobie. Also refer to Ambrose's "Band Of Brothers" where he tells the American side of Operation Pegasus I.

2001 A U.S. Navy surveillance plane collided with a Chinese fighter over the South China Sea, The Chinese plane crashed into the ocean; the damaged U.S. plane landed on the Chinese island of Hainan, where its 24 crewmembers were held for 11 days.

I hear that!
Reason number one why I'm not a soldier anymore, I cannot remain 'professional' about it.
If given the time, chance, resources, and ooportunity I'd be over there myself creating a bigger mess in all probability even though my intent would be to help our side.

Thanks Psyop, I agree with your letter. The rage I feel looking at that picture is what this entire country needs to feel, they need to know what we're fighting against. I'd but a pullet between the eyes of that "person" in the picture and any of his buddies and not lose a moments sleep over it.

I have plenty of words but they're not fit for posting. If I had the power Falluja would have 24 hours to turn over the terrorists or the place would be leveled block by block until we found them. Carthage comes to mind when dealing with these "people".

The Press started going leftist and pushing an agenda during the Vietnam War, that was the beginning of the media stopping reporting and starting editorializing.
