I just remembered that the F-104 Starfighter was the plane used in
Star Trek (original) episode
"Tomorrow is Yesterday"

Yeah. Pretty stupid wasn't it. Goering "If it has to do with the air, it's mine" was ridiculous. The Parartroopers were Luftwaffe, Flak was Luftwaffe and the Herman Goering Panzer Divsion was Luftwaffe. It's also one of the reasons the Graf Zeppelin was never finshed, Goering insisted the planes be under Luftwaffe control.

LOL I was thinking of that very episode a few days ago. The part that has always stood out is the Air Force SP. He just looked so stunned. He also had a 38 revolver. Interesting how the USAF stayed with the 38 when all other services used the 45.

Just goes to show, doesn't it, that a bunch of beer hall brawlers had no business trying to run a war. Thank goodness.

Yep being a "decorated hero" doesn't always translate into being a good leader for a Country.

"One CN-DM Gas Hand Grenade"
That was a bad-assed gadget. The CN and DM were solids, vaporized by burning nitrocellulose propellant in the grenade. The vapors condensed into a sub-microscopic aerosol. This aerosol will penetrate almost all air filtration. DM is Lewisite, an arsenical compound, causing projectile vomiting and even worse unpleasantness.
In the old days CN-DM grenades were used a lot to get folks out of buildings when they didn't want to. Old movies showed tear gas grenades burning at one end, with a flaring fire. These movie grenades were training versions of CN-DM grenades. Nowadays police devices use volatile solvents as a carrier instead of heat vaporization, since folks are squeamish about burning houses down.
