You're welcome.
Nope, I didn't recognize the author, but I confess that I looked it up. LOL.

I agree, the Russia Front occupied the majority of German troops and equipment. They were bled dry in Russia. Imagine how much harder it would have been to land in france if all those divisions and planes were facing us?

Imagine how much harder it would have been to land in france if all those divisions and planes were facing us?Ugh. Nasty, really nasty. To begin with we would have had to go to full mobilization and raise 200 divisions instead of 100. And we might have had to call it quits on trying to advance in both Europe and the Pacific. Thinking about a Britain and American alone against Hitler scenario also makes you wonder how the A-Bomb scenario would have played out - it might have been used in Europe first.

When you guys ran the Grant thread it triggered a memory of that quote and I thought it would be a great tagline. Very appropriate for the present situation in the U.S. It really angers me that high level politicians claim to "support the troops" but refuse to give them what they need to finish the job, thereby dishonoring their sacrifice.

Our fires are getting worse by the hour. Castle Pines, a very exclusive subdivision south of Denver has been evacuated as the grass fire is threatening the hill country subdivisions down there. The northern fire is growing and looks to trigger an evacuation of a foothills subdivision above Boulder. And the cold front now is forecast not to arrive until tomorrow night, giving us another good day of fire weather. :(

Hi, I've not participated on these threads but I'd like to start. I have a slow dial up and these graphics kill my load time. Nevertheless, I have two small favors. I hope this is the right thread. If not, please accept my apology.
I noticed this thread, please, take a moment, no one has... Letter from the Front
My second request is more personal. Please, also take a peek here: Vanity: 'Newbie' Military Parent Needs Assistance
Thanks again, and please let me know if this is appropriate on this thread.

Thinking about a Britain and American alone against Hitler scenario also makes you wonder how the A-Bomb scenario would have played out - it might have been used in Europe first. That's the "what if" option I've heard, that the A-bomb would have been used in Europe, also if Russia wasn't sucking up all those Germans resources waht else might the Germans have been able to develop faster? Jets, Rockets, better subs? They were developed late in the war but might have been sped up if resources were available.

Yep, by not devoting so many resources against Russia, Hitler could have thrown a lot of money at wonder weapon projects.
Hitler's bad strategy and bad generalship sure helped us win that war. The decision to attack Russia before finiishing off Britain was one of the worst.

Well, Snippy, I live in the same neighborhood as longtime Mayor Webb, so the Fire Department would devote maximum effort to protect us. :) Thanks for the thoughts.
Talking about the fires reminds me of the story about the caretaker of the Beethoven house in Bonn crawling up on the roof during nightime bombings to hose down the house. What bravery!

Can you look at this
vanity I posted today? Would this be something to discuss on this thread? Thanks for your help.
To: Indy Pendance; snippy_about_it; All
Sure. If you want to discuss it, bring it up here. I'm sure there are others who can provide info.
It's a good idea to post it in the General Forum too, to get more exposure to the Freeper Audience.
