I’m not pinning down a time, but I am certainly pinning down the “signs of the time”. In the same manner as those people in Jesus’ day were held responsible to know that the time of their visitation was at hand, we are going to be held responsible for knowing the time of our visitation is at hand.

Luke 19:41-44

41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,

42 saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

43 For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,

44 and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

Matthew 24:32-34

32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.

33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!

34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

We will NOT be given any special sign like the Pharisees and Saddicees asked for - but we will be expected to recognize the “signs of the times” ...

Matthew 16:1-4

1 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.

2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’;

3 and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

The SIGNS OF THE TIMES is now for this generation!

.
If only you knew what that statement meant.

Clue: The opposite of what you seem to think it means.

You support these laws so you don’t get to play the “but this isn’t what I meant” game.

I’m sure if you wash long enough and hard enough you might be able to get most of the pieces of that kid off your conscience. Maybe, anyway.

Problem is that the Libertarian Party is 100% pro-fag agenda in every way, pro-open borders and pro-abortion. That is their official platform. If someone calls themselves a libertarian and does not support these or some of the other crazy platforms of the LP, they should use a different word to describe themselves.

People have known for a thousand years that "the time was near".

AS I PASS through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper prostrations to the Gods of the Market Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.

We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn
That Water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gorillas while we followed the March of Mankind.

We moved as the Spirit listed. They never altered their pace,
Being neither cloud nor wind-borne like the Gods of the Market Place,
But they always caught up with our progress, and presently word would come
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch,
They denied that the Moon was Stilton; they denied she was even Dutch;
They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings;
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "The Wages of Sin is Death."

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "If you don't work you die."

Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

You are using dirty debate tactics. Not being for the legalization of drugs does not = being responsible or happy that some cops act like jack booted thugs torturing and killing innocent people. It’s not an either/or choice. As you well know, unless you’re a doper and have lost your wits.

Wrong, Scooter. If you support the “war” on drugs then you don’t get to disavow the collateral damage.

So suck it up. You wanted it. Now own it.

People knew that the Messiah, the promised one, was coming from the time of Adam and Eve, but it was “that generation” at the time of Jesus, which was held accountable for the time of their visitation.

Likewise, we’ve known for over a thousand years that the Messiah can return quickly, but it’s this generation who will be held accountable for recognizing the signs of the time (of his second visitation).

If Duncan doesn't want to know, he doesn't have to.

Yeshua made a special provision for those that wish to pretend that we will not know the day of his coming:

Revelation 3:3

Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

I prefer to read his clear prophecies, and know and watch, so that he will not come as a thief for me!

1Thessalonians 5:

[1] But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
[2] For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
[3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
[4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

I'd rather be like the Thessalonians that will know when to expect his coming.

Why is it this generation, and not the last generation, or the one before that, or the one before that ...?

And what is “this” generation?

Boomers?

Their parents?

Their children?

Do you ever have any original thoughts, or are you just a ‘bot that spouts Bible verses?

It’s only Bible verses that are inerrant and infallible ... so we should quote them as much as possible when pertaining to whatever the subject at hand is. Our reasoning should come from them.

In understanding this ... I reference a church statement (as in the body of Christ) about this ...

Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy
http://www.bible-researcher.com/chicago1.html

The “Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy” was produced at an international Summit Conference of evangelical leaders, held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago in the fall of 1978. This congress was sponsored by the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy. The Chicago Statement was signed by nearly 300 noted evangelical scholars, including James Boice, Norman L. Geisler, John Gerstner, Carl F. H. Henry, Kenneth Kantzer, Harold Lindsell, John Warwick Montgomery, Roger Nicole, J. I. Packer, Robert Preus, Earl Radmacher, Francis Schaeffer, R. C. Sproul, and John Wenham.

The ICBI disbanded in 1988 after producing three major statements: one on biblical inerrancy in 1978, one on biblical hermeneutics in 1982, and one on biblical application in 1986. The following text, containing the “Preface” by the ICBI draft committee, plus the “Short Statement,” “Articles of Affirmation and Denial,” and an accompanying “Exposition,” was published in toto by Carl F. H. Henry in God, Revelation And Authority, vol. 4 (Waco, Tx.: Word Books, 1979), on pp. 211-219. The nineteen Articles of Affirmation and Denial, with a brief introduction, also appear in A General Introduction to the Bible, by Norman L. Geisler and William E. Nix (Chicago: Moody Press, rev. 1986), at pp. 181-185. An official commentary on these articles was written by R. C. Sproul in Explaining Inerrancy: A Commentary (Oakland, Calif.: ICBI, 1980), and Norman Geisler edited the major addresses from the 1978 conference, in Inerrancy (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1980).

Clarification of some of the language used in this Statement may be found in the 1982 Chicago Statement on Biblical Hermeneutics

The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy

Preface

The authority of Scripture is a key issue for the Christian church in this and every age. Those who profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are called to show the reality of their discipleship by humbly and faithfully obeying God’s written Word. To stray from Scripture in faith or conduct is disloyalty to our Master. Recognition of the total truth and trustworthiness of Holy Scripture is essential to a full grasp and adequate confession of its authority.

The following Statement affirms this inerrancy of Scripture afresh, making clear our understanding of it and warning against its denial. We are persuaded that to deny it is to set aside the witness of Jesus Christ and of the Holy Spirit and to refuse that submission to the claims of God’s own Word which marks true Christian faith. We see it as our timely duty to make this affirmation in the face of current lapses from the truth of inerrancy among our fellow Christians and misunderstandings of this doctrine in the world at large.

This Statement consists of three parts: a Summary Statement, Articles of Affirmation and Denial, and an accompanying Exposition. It has been prepared in the course of a three-day consultation in Chicago. Those who have signed the Summary Statement and the Articles wish to affirm their own conviction as to the inerrancy of Scripture and to encourage and challenge one another and all Christians to growing appreciation and understanding of this doctrine. We acknowledge the limitations of a document prepared in a brief, intensive conference and do not propose that this Statement be given creedal weight. Yet we rejoice in the deepening of our own convictions through our discussions together, and we pray that the Statement we have signed may be used to the glory of our God toward a new reformation of the Church in its faith, life, and mission.

We offer this Statement in a spirit, not of contention, but of humility and love, which we purpose by God’s grace to maintain in any future dialogue arising out of what we have said. We gladly acknowledge that many who deny the inerrancy of Scripture do not display the consequences of this denial in the rest of their belief and behavior, and we are conscious that we who confess this doctrine often deny it in life by failing to bring our thoughts and deeds, our traditions and habits, into true subjection to the divine Word.

We invite response to this statement from any who see reason to amend its affirmations about Scripture by the light of Scripture itself, under whose infallible authority we stand as we speak. We claim no personal infallibility for the witness we bear, and for any help which enables us to strengthen this testimony to God’s Word we shall be grateful.

— The Draft Committee

A Short Statement

1. God, who is Himself Truth and speaks truth only, has inspired Holy Scripture in order thereby to reveal Himself to lost mankind through Jesus Christ as Creator and Lord, Redeemer and Judge. Holy Scripture is God’s witness to Himself.

2. Holy Scripture, being God’s own Word, written by men prepared and superintended by His Spirit, is of infallible divine authority in all matters upon which it touches: it is to be believed, as God’s instruction, in all that it affirms: obeyed, as God’s command, in all that it requires; embraced, as God’s pledge, in all that it promises.

3. The Holy Spirit, Scripture’s divine Author, both authenticates it to us by His inward witness and opens our minds to understand its meaning.

4. Being wholly and verbally God-given, Scripture is without error or fault in all its teaching, no less in what it states about God’s acts in creation, about the events of world history, and about its own literary origins under God, than in its witness to God’s saving grace in individual lives.

5. The authority of Scripture is inescapably impaired if this total divine inerrancy is in any way limited or disregarded, or made relative to a view of truth contrary to the Bible’s own; and such lapses bring serious loss to both the individual and the Church.

Here in Oklahoma, we know a thunderstorm is coming (much of the time, anyway) - but we don’t always know exactly when.

What we do know is that it’s not coming next month or next year ... LOL ...

SO ... we recognize it’s coming, because we can read the signs ... and we know it’s not coming ten years from now — BUT SOON ... we just don’t know “exactly” how soon ... :-) ...

That’s why Jesus used the example of the weather for recognizing the time of his coming — in Oklahoma we know exactly what Jesus was talking about!

>> And what is “this” generation? <<

Read what Paul wrote to the Thessalonians:

2Thes.2

[1] Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
[2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

When we see the abomination, the question of which generation will be instantly answered, and 1335 days later Yeshua will come for us in the clouds with his angels, on the Day of Trumpets, as the first crack of the new moon shows from the temple mount, the beginning of the 7th Biblical month, and the Day of Trumpets.

This is what Matthew 24:36 is about, the only feast whose time was always unknown until the new moon heralded its beginning.

Yeshua wasn't telling his disciples that they wouldn't know; he was telling them exactly why they would know, if they were watching.

It’s called “cause and effect” and it’s perfectly logical.

Cause: “war” on drugs.

Effect: bombs tossed into cribs.

Like I said, you wanted it. You got it. Now be a man and own the consequences.

Shame about the kid, though. Oh well. If you want to make an omelet you have to blow up a few kids, shoot a couple of grandmothers in their beds and then plant drugs on her, trash the 4th and 5th Amendments...

By the way. Can you point out exactly where in Article II, Section VIII of the US Constitution Congress is granted the specific, enumerated power to regulate what an adult puts into their own body?

Take your time. I’ll wait.

If you are looking for a thief, you are not his!

He is not coming to his own as a thief.

He has an appointment with us, 1335 days after Antichrist stands on the Ark and declares himself to be God.

That is what his word says.
