not of the dubious "ultra-rapid" variety that is completed in 24 hours. The term "detox" is pretty wide ranging. There's physical addiction and then there is mental addiction.
Breaking physical addiction means the body is producing "normal" levels of chemicals, hormones, etc. instead of
reacting to overcome the various effects of whatever drug.
Breaking the mental addiction - the desire, or the perceived desire, or the driving conditions (pain, stress, etc) for the addiction, is much harder.

then Limbaugh: a) has procured tremendous amounts of highly addictive narcotic medications from his pill-pushing housekeeper Wilma Cline,I suppose Wilma will be considered a "kingpin" and sentenced to capital punishment...
Oh...and have her ill-gotten media money confiscated...
To: GOPBlonde
Which leftist will be the first to come out with mean-spirited attacks on Rush? Attacks they would never think of doing if it were one of their beloved actors/actresses going into rehab.
The first of the attacks will be displayed on my website.

Or be drafted as the Democrat presidental contender in 2004.

I remember a large number of mean spirited attacks on this writer earlier this week.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/996591/posts She was accused of convicting Limbaugh without a jury among a lot of other things.
I've learned a lot from Rush but no one is perfect. It would be good for all of us to remember that before we attack another good conservative writer who speaks the truth about one of our own.
I'll still be listening to Rush when he completes his rehab.
My thanks to Carol for daring to confront the truth courageously.

Did he say whether the addiction was a result or a cause of the deafness episode?
To: Rytwyng
I think his "dealer" was given immunity
To: BlazingArizona
He said the addiction was a result of the pain following unsuccessful back surgery about 6 years ago.
He didn't mention the deafness but I would like to know if it was caused by the drugs too.
To: GOPBlonde
Given that the author doesn't mention anywhere Limbaugh's history of spinal problems and failed surgery, I assume the author himself doesn't suffer from chronic back pain/spinal injury. Anyone who had wouldn't fail to mention that element of the equation.
To: Flurry
Thanks Flurry, Rush IS right. LOL I remember the first time I said that to myself over something he had talked about, and then realized that I had just "joined the club."

Wasn't she guaranteed immunity in return for taping the deals and providing evidence?I hadn't heard this. It sounds to me like they are seriously going to go after Rush.
I just hope Conservatives don't rush to his defense and forgive him out-of-hand, as if this was something trivial. It isn't. And when I discuss this issue with others, I won't be one who denies that Rush has been hypocritical on the issue of drug abuse. He has. I saw what the Democrats did for Clinton everytime he was caught doing something wrong We, as Conservatives need to rise to a higher standard. The death of right and wrong has to stop at our door.
Having said that, I also believe that any man is worthy of redemption if he is sincere. It's a violation of every religion and every moral principle to not accept true redemption and forgive them when they are sincere.
I would like Rush to come out and say, "I made a mistake .. and further I made a mistake when I condemend people who used drugs. I now realize that drug addiction is a health problem and not a criminal problem." He then needs to go into rehab and change.

I now realize that drug addiction is a health problem and not a criminal problem.Right on. Such an admission might be the silver bullet to put the entire War On some Drugs to rest. It's always been a medical problem, yet way too many folks' employment and golden-handshake retirements require that it remain a criminal problem.
For someone rumored to have knocked down thirty of these a day while remaining coherent, I tip my hat to Rush. A BIG guy indeed.(always thought the hearing loss was due to the headsets radio guys have to wear- not a friendly enviornment to the inner ear)

(I have over 41 years experience, at acting 8 years old. That will be 42 years in Jan 04.)
To: Flurry
Isn't that the truth! Not only did Rush fill the void but it was wonderful to listen to other people who called in and felt the same as I did. If it wouldn't have been for Rush, it would have been a very lonely 8 years.

Some of the so-called "Conservatives" on this forum are too busy sticking pins in their Rush voodoo dolls to offer either compassion, or prayers!
