Well I gues our mysterious friend is gone for the night and not going to answer my query, so I'll take my leave. And when I lay my head on my pillow, I'm going to say a prayer for Rush. He's sure seen me through some tough times so it's the least I can do!

The other day the opposition was alledging 66 pills a day. As you say, even 30 pills a day is ludicrous. The credibility of the those making the charge has trouble with the smell test.

The Enquirer article quoted Rush saying negative things about drug takers or addicts, but all the quotes were from the early 90s, before he is alleged to have gotten into this trouble, no doubt after a legitimate reason to take these dr-prescribed pills.

You may be right, most addicts are extremely bright people, That statement is foolish tripe. Ever been to SF and seen all the homeless addicts? Do they look like high IQ types???
To: viligantcitizen
Don't you agree that someone with Rush's money and popularity can easily obtain prescription drugs, legally or illegally, without having to approach the maid Indeed, I agree....but with the exception that if one goes beyond pain relief into "staying high land" then one is going to have to doctor shop or find a Doctor Nick and stay with him which is pretty hard these days with La Dea breathing down doctors necks. I do not know what Rush might actually have done...he might have bummed or bought some painkillers off the maid rather than go beg off the doctor or he might have gone whole hog or he might be completely and unequivocally innocent (but why not say so?)
I have 2 herniated discs in my lower back. My Neurosurgeon buddy will not refill my weakass Lortab 5mgs (#30) but once without a revisit and if I kept that up he would insist on the knife. It's funny...now at 45, I actually only use dope as it is prescribed and very prudently. Between my back and my wife's last two childbirths I bet we have around 60 Demerols and 30-40 Lortabs and around 40 Darvocets and if they get used more than once or twice a year, I'd be suprised. Tonight, I made the mistake of picking up our very hot pizza stone while making dinner and crispied my finger tips...I coated them in Benzocaine after mucho agua frio and then just sweated it out. My wife suggested I take one of her leftover Mepergans but I didn't want to fall asleep on the sofa trying to watch a movie....damned funny how life turns. At 18, my buddies and I would have gone thru my medicine chest like foxes thru a henhouse. and having wee ones that totally depend on you makes me so reluctant to be altered at all. Never much liked to drink a lot nor did I care much for coca or gack....Thank God.
If I can't sleep, I will take a Benadryl...knocks my ass out..lol
Dope Smuggling ain't what it used to be from what I gather btw.

Yeah, but you know how Rush gloats like crazy when the NE is up to its gonads in snow and he's in FLA. I think he'd pick a nice island down there or off CA as well!

Why should Rush buy an island so that YOU could escape there ?
Why would you even suggest that YOU know what he should do with his own money ? That's far from being a Conservative! And no, it isn't " funny ", " cute ", or anything else you care to throw in as cover.
Rush, to my knowledge, NEVER stopped drinking " adult beverages ". He drank Snapple, ON AIR ! Did you want him to imbibe alcohol instead ? Oh yes, and nowhere, in no media, has he ever said or implied that he had a problem with alochol.
You and others here, seem desperate for Rush to be guilty of something...ANYTHING, apparently will do. Why ? So that you can show how compassionate you are ?
If anything, Rush had an eating disorder of gargantuian proportions at one time; propably compulsive eating. He's obviously iver that.
I have blown this stupid theorizing up, time and time again here and am sick to deaTh of typing the same FACTS to the same people. Read my earlier posts, read others', whose posts also make sense, and stop looking as though you and the rest of you typing the same kind of thing, are salivating at this news. It makes FR look worse than anything our enemies say about FR.
To: nopardons
Hey FRiend, chill. Look back over my posts before you start accusing *me* of beating on Rush.
Now leave me alone. I'm trying to unwind before I go to bed, for heaven's sake!
Oh, and BTW, I'll suggest anything (island) I want to one of Rush's friends. You don't know me so what do you know about my intentions? Don't put words in my mouth.

Your post holds lots of truth, IMHO.
Why couldn't someone else in the Limbaugh household have become addicted? Not that I'm accusing anyone, but I recall the Osbourne boy recently told about how he was addicted to OxyContin as well. It seems to be a fashionable teen drug and teens buy from street pushers.
I am content in the knowledge that I trust Rush. When the time is right he'll tell us what we need to know. In the meantime, I'll concentrate on improving my own weaknesses.

You are confusing Humidston with someone elses posts. The "island" joke was about Rush suing the pants of the Enquirer. Go back and re-read thru this thread.

320 mgs?Yep. That's how the medicine is supposed to be prescribed for people with high opioid tolerance. Sounds like a lot, but for them it's necessary.

I believe that the operative word is "alcoholic", of course your friend's husband is an alcoholic.
That term is used to describe what they can do. Many people think of alcoholics as literally lying down drunk in the gutter, you and I know both know that is not true.
It is a progressive disease that has very identifiable components to each stage of the disease. There is a great book called "Under the Influence," by Dr. James Milam which describes all of this.
My heart goes out to your friend, it looks as if though her husband changed one addiction for another. Families of addicts suffer the worst, and usually get little or no attention to the effects of alcohol on their lives. I think it is great that you are there for her.
To: Humidston
I thought I knew you; I was obviouly dead wrong.
I have read this entire thread, bitting my tongue, refraining from posting ( which was difficult after reading so much garabge!)and I know what you wrote.
You want to " unwind " ? Fine, you can find chat threads here, as well as other types to " unwind " on; for heaven's sake.
Suggest away, and look the fool.Conservatives don't make unsolicited suggestions about how others should spend their money. You did. That kind of thing is best done in your own mind...isn't it ? Especially when you want Rush to have nukes ( which would be illegal!) with which to threaten the USA with and extort money into the bargin.
" Chill " ? That's what you should probably do. :-)
Oh well, just go back to posting tripe and add to FR's now reputation of a site filled with crazies. It's these kinds of posts, which aid and abet our detractors.
To: Yaelle
Those are all good points. I think we have to wait and see.

"Indeed, I agree....but with the exception that if one goes beyond pain relief into "staying high land" then one is going to have to doctor shop or find a Doctor Nick and stay with him which is pretty hard these days with La Dea breathing down doctors necks. I do not know what Rush might actually have done...he might have bummed or bought some painkillers off the maid rather than go beg off the doctor or he might have gone whole hog or he might be completely and unequivocally innocent (but why not say so?)" For one, if Rush happens to have a sports doctor, such as a football team doctor as a buddy, scripts shouldn't be a problem. Those docs are scrutinized by the DEA the same as regular docs are.
Secondly, as big an enemy of the left as Rush is, I'm sure they watch him like a hawk waiting for any morsel of scandal to ruin him with. If he did have a problem, I'm sure the story would've broke way before now. I believe if Rush was actually heavily involved with illegal pills, his enemies would rather have him busted ala Mayor Berry, which is more substantial and devastating than an enquirer article.
Do know that I'm no Rush fan nor am I totally convinced either way. But I'm leaning toward a not very well orchestrated smear job in this case.
" Dope Smuggling ain't what it used to be from what I gather btw"
I agree, but pills are cheap and available in bulk over the counter in Mexico. It wouldn't be that difficult for an individual with the means to set up a way to smuggle enough pills back to the USA for personal use.

I was really just trying to point out that it's not uncommon for functioning, productive, apparently normal people to take large doses of stuff that would render most people useless. Just replying to the "this couldn't possibly be true" crowd.

nopardons,
I don't know about you, but after reading this thread, I could go for and "adult beverage" right not and I don't usually drink!
Anyway, tomorrow's a work day and it's time to sign off. Take Care.
To: viligantcitizen
The Enquirer has had this story, from the maid, for two years+ ! Then, when Rush was all over the news with the ESPN story, they printed it. The " facts " are feeble at best. There is very little for anyone, except those who enjoy tinfoil, to get all that excited about as being " true ".
As has been stated repeatedly , the NE can't be sued for libel, they printed the accuser's words, NOT their own. Libel has to be proven to be of malicious intent and the NE left enough wiggle room so as NOT to be sued and they know it.
