At least in free elections we can alternate the hard core communists and the soft core communists ... the power of the media choke hold weakens in the public mind --- when the game becomes obvious !

WHAT ... these parts are coming in from syria --- maybe nkorea !

Don't confuse Christianity with the National Council of Churches!

Thank you for that reminder

That is the reason I am a churchless Christian. Although I don't argue with my husband when he wants to attend the Baptist Church, I'll go along, he's da boss.

Hey, here's a novel concept. Since they're seminaries and supposed to be teaching, maybe the source documents in Greek and Hebrew.

"Well, essentially Tony's book about "Rich Christians" uses Scripture (incorrectly, I might add) to "guilt" Christians with money into "sharing" because they obviously have "too much."

Well, one WOULD hope that anyone who professes to be a Christian would generously share all that God has blessed him with. Not in a forced, communistic way, but cheerfully and voluntarily, out of a love for Jesus and the human beings that He died for.

Anyone who claims to be Christian and does not help others because they are in love with their own wallet has some serious problems to work out with his/her Lord.

"That is the reason I am a churchless Christian."

What is the reason? Because some denominations have been lead astray into the world?

These churches would not have been lead astray if 'good Christians' as it were would have stood up and fought for what was right.

And there are churches out there who have NOT been lead into the world.

Sadly, there are many who profess to be Christians who have left the church instead of following biblical teaching to toss out the unrepentent brother/sister.

It seems clear to me from the New Testament that God wants Christians involved in a local church fellowship. We only harm ourselves when we fail to adhere to God's teachings on this issue.

And we harm others when we wimp out instead of staying in the church and fighting for what is right.

All of these texts would claim they have the "right" interpretation.

My point was simply that there is only one Church that has preserved these source documents and faithfully translated them through the years. Other interpretations have come along to serve an ideology (I'm not saying the Catholic Church DOESN'T have an ideology... just one that reaches back to Christ Himself) and that has created scisms and scisms of scisms.

Be careful what you heard me write. I didn't say (nor does Chilton) that Christians are not be generous and sharing. But what does the Bible say about who to help and why? I would highly recommend Chilton's book to you. Believe me, he is not a "health and wealth" type (if you understand that term).

"Be careful what you heard me write."

Since I have read neither book, I didn't presume anything about what anyone said. I simply made a statement for clarity's sake for any unbelievers who might be viewing the thread.

"But what does the Bible say about who to help and why?"

The bible indicates that we are to help all those in need, and we are to do it because we love the Lord and others.
