30 percent to 40 percent of the Africans who were enslaved, kidnapped and brought to this country were BY Muslims.

The name "California" comes from the Arabic word calif, meaning ruler or leader. If we Americans were truly heartless people, we'd give California back to the arabs.

Lie #1:
It is important for the American public to know that although this political movement by Muslims may be somewhat new, Muslims have been a part of the fabric of this society, in some fashion, since before Columbus.
Lie #2:
Muslim explorers visited the West Coast long ago. Arabic writings have been found in some caves in California. The name "California" comes from the Arabic word calif, meaning ruler or leader.
Lie #3:
The Declaration of Independence possesses Islamic concepts.
Lie #4:
Our civil/religious liberties have been attacked by the likes of the so-called Patriot Act.
I could have missed a few more...

LIES, LIES, and MORE LIES!
This article makes my "blood boil".However, I did read it and responded to the Charlotte Observer.
Again, the liberals in this Country are going to rewrite History. I thought we had learned on Sept. 11th, but how soon some forget.

George Bush imports something on the order of 100,000 fresh, new, legal, permanent, green-carded Muslim immigrants per year.
Why?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't your beloved "prophet" Mohammad also tell his followers to make the streets flow with the blood of the non-believers? Doesn't the Koran beseech Muslims to "make no friendship with a Christian or a Jew?"
There's also the issue of Jihad, which is nowhere to be seen in this article. Mr. Hough can lecture non-Muslims ad nauseum about the importance of respecting his culture, but he ignores the reality of what his people are doing to others.

Doing a quick Google search for origin or etymology of California, this is one of the first hits:
California: Most authorities derive it from the two Spanish words, caliente fornalia, i.e., "hot furnace," given by Cortez in the year 1535 to the peninsula now known as Baja or Lower California, of which he was the discoverer, on account of its hot climate. H. H. Bancroft, in his History of California, says the name was first given to the Gulf, then to Lower California.

These raghead heathen animals are liars beyond the wildest imagination of cilvilized people. That "california" came from "calif" is a typical lie like these mohams specialize in.
I have found several references in a google search to the origin of the word, "California," and they all pretty much go something like this:
The origin of the name "California" as well as the person who first named this land and the date it came into use are still unclear. It is accepted theory that the name derived from the combination of the Latin words "calida fornax" (hot oven), which were used by Hernán Cortez on reaching the peninsula
These people lie like other people breathe. And they lie with a totally straight face, expecting you to believe it. They don't even SEE an assertion as being a "lie" if it furthers their agenda.

The short answer is: Wishful-thinking pandering of the same sort that drives GOP fantasies such as the one that says illegal alien amnesties will make Hispanics into conservative voters.
More specifically, Bush is just keeping his hands off the controls of an immigration system on autopilot since 1965. That was the year LBJ and his supermajority Congress ended the practice of the US government picking immigrants (Country Quotas), and switched over to a "family-chain-migration system", in which immigrants pick immigrants.
That legislation, authored by Ted Kennedy (Yes, really) has shifted immigration from a largely European affair to an overwhelmingly Latin American and Asian enterprise.
Immigration from Islamic countries, while considerable, still amounts to only about 7-8 percent of the total legal immigration flow, with Pakistan the largest single Islamic immigrant source country.
Though there are powerful ethnic and cheap-labor interests behind out-of-control immigration system, it is out-of-favor with the public at large. Bush could have wiped the whole mess away on a voice vote in the wake of 9-11. He could still probably cut out the 7-8 percent from Islamic states, but that at this point, it would take more political courage than I've seen coming from this administration.

Along with Rachel Corrie's parents, Jibril Hough is a founding member of the Charlotte Coalition for Peace and Justice, a Pal Solidarity style communist organization. He is a muslim "convert" and has become their spokesperson. They have recruited close to 6000 muslims in the area. When asked about their communist ties they say only that some members may be commies but most are just concerned about peace in the middle east (translation: the anhilation of Israel).

May peace be upon Allah. Everyone knows also that besides "california" actually being arab, coming from the name "calif," there is also:
Alabama, which was originally ALLAHBAMA or, ALA-BABA-BAMA. Some might say it was named after the great Jamal, and was originally Jamalabama.
Alaska was actually ALLAHSKA, meaning, the place where Allah and I will bang 70 virgin goats.
Idaho, because all your women are ho's!
And of course, WE followers of Allah actually named the state of UNWASHINGTON, because we believe soap and toilet paper are the work of the white skin devil!
Praise be to Allah for teaching the truth about the origin of names!
Signed,
Jihad Jim

I was tapped by Agitate on this. Interesting thread and issue. I have read Steve Emerson extensively since 9/11 and his research and insights, along with Daniel Pipes, have been critical to forming the Bush Administration's domestic and foreign policy in dealing with Muslim/Islamic terrorism.
This article should give pause to all. The Islamics in America have every intention of impacting American social and domestic policy to their own benefit, as well as our relationship with Israel. Note well the writer's statement:
"...the continued unbalanced policy towards Israel and Palestine, gives Muslims many reasons to become more politically active -- as well as exercising our right to vote as we look towards an American "regime change" in 2004."
Yeah, well Bush/Cheney in 2004, pal.
