I think Rush walked into a trap. He is very controversial ....
(1) He had to walk into it because to not do so would let the Left win. We know now what they would do instead of letting them say, we didn't try.
(2) Rush is only controversial as defined by the Left. Same guys that defined unilateral, and diversity, and disenfranchise. Sorry, Rush is right. If a rats wants to cry and we give them any creedance, then we are wrong.

Yawn...
Personal insults are proof that you have lost the argument.
Rush was wrong then turned tail and ran from the heat, back to the loving arms of his cult.
To: marajade
What Rush said was stupid and out of line. Should he have been fired? I don't know.
Except what Rush said was 100% correct! Ohh, words scare me. Don't say true things if someone might be offended.
The worst is THE RATS HATE FOOTBALL AND ARE GOING TO DO WHAT THEY CAN TO DESTROY IT. So let's all just sit around and read our books on diversity and be nice about it.

I fugured as much. Thanks for the info.

It was irritating as hell to watch. You could always tell that Tom Jackson had something against Rush, even before all this happened.

McNabb....voted into the Pro Bowl....
Heck, let's just award the Eagles the superbowl championship for the next 100 years. Voting is such an objective way to measure whether a team can win.
The Rats don't want football to be a true measure of skill on the field. They oppose any true measurement like that.

But that's just the point. Rush does what he thinks and knows is right in his mind. Therefore he doesn't CHOOSE the opportune time or place to make a statement. That's what is unique about him and even those who don't like him should know what he says comes from his heart and those are HIS beliefs...whether someone likes those believes or not. He does not "play the crowd to his benefit."
To: HardStarboard
I still never understood how that comment could be considered political because not only was he attacking the media but specifically the sports media. It wasn't like he was trying to tie in articles that had nothing to do with football or McNabb.
Anyone else find it odd that Rush brought in an extra 10% in ratings and rather than try to keep them, the ESPN crew is saying, "go away, we don't need you"?

Respectfully, Daunte is not a stud. He can't hang on to the #*#@ football. Small hands, perhaps. He also gets no critiscm from the media up here.

Why does Bradshaw hate Rush? I thought Terry was a conservative.
He has to attack Rush. The story has been written and Rush is a racist. To stay on the air, you have to suck the ring of the Disney leaders. (careful, I said ring).

He said race hasn't been a topic of discussion regarding the QB position for quite some time, and Rush was wrong to make it one now.
I thought he came off as pretty evenhanded, considering the idiocy of the other three.

We are also, in my opinion, wasting time debating any other issue about his statement other than whether it was racist
I totally agree with this. But, as you know, it isn't going to happen. The left wants us to listen to the spin, the hyperbole, their re-assessment; not THE DIRECT QUOTE. Facts! What facts? ... now move along.
To: Andy from Beaverton
Rush should of known better. He can say what ever he wants on his show because he is preaching to the choir. Most people that listen to him do so because they agree with his views. Being on ESPN is different. People listen to the pregame show because they are football fans, not because Rsuh is on it. There is big difference. Probably most ESPN listeners are men and they are mostly conservative but they do not tune it in because Rush is there. Rush could of said on his radio show the exact same thing he said on ESPN and no body would have said anything. You would have thought that Rush with all his experience would have understood this and that certain segments of our society are out to get him. I think Rush's ego took control. He should have never taken the job with ESPN. I am sure Rush would agree with me. I think he wants to be more than a conservative commentator. But thats what he is and he always will be. The elites in our society will never accept him.

I'd like to respond to your reply {# 266} but it's incoherent.

I'm probably more conservative than you are.
However, in this instance Rush botched-up miserably and I'm unafraid to say so.

He can say what ever he wants on his show because he is preaching to the choir. Totally wrong.
Rush can say what he wants because he owns his show, and he makes money for his advertisers. Had Rush been a part of mainstream media from the beginning, he would have never been allowed to go national, or would have been fired after his first controversial remarks.
It was okay when Rush was only considered a small-market shock-jock in Sacramento, but after he and his partner took his show national, there were numerous efforts to silence him.
ESPN wishes they had his audience, pro and con. Rush has more enemy listeners than most shows have sycophants. Rush says what he believes when the mood strikes him, and that is exactly why he has an audience. Those who hate him contribute just as much to his success.
