Last week, Davis posed a challenge to Schwarzenegger to debate with him, stating that Schwarzenegger apparently had more pressing matters, McClintock said he would be happy to take Schwarzenegger's place.

"If Governor Davis is serious about wanting to debate these issues, the debate's on... If he's not serious about it, we'll just have to take that into account on election day. The more discussion among the candidates, the better."

I for one would love to see McClintock mop the floor with Davis.

The certain knowledge that that would be the outcome will keep Gray Davis at the other end of the State from whereever McClintock is between now and election day.

And, in spite of my enromous respect for Tom McClintock, I will continue to support Schwarzenneger.

Arrgghh.. this is getting agonizing. I would prefer Tom over Arnold but would gladly vote for Arnold to keep Cruz from winning. Some are still saying that a vote for McClintock is a vote for Buster-whatsisname. If true then my vote has to go to Conan.. But how is one to know?

All those posters who said McC was "finally going to do the right thing," were wrong as usual. After all this time, they still don't know the first thing about Tom McClintock. He just made a brilliant assist for Arnold. If Davis turns McClintock down, he can no longer say that Arnold is "chicken." If Davis accepts McClintock's offer, he'll get creamed and his numbers will be even worse than they were before. I'd say Tom is definitely "earning his keep."

Except the mainstream press probably wouldn't cover McClintock vs Davis.

If they did and there were three days of debates -- or even one big one, then Schwarzenegger takes a hit.
