Yeah, it would be damn shame if they were actually taught to read, write, add and subtract instead of sing. There's nothing wrong with kids learning to sing and play instruments in school. After all, they also have to take physical education and have opportunities to participate in sports. Some people even make their careers in sports and music. (I did - and I can also read, write, add and subtract.) The problem comes when a wannabe hippie teacher pushes her political agenda. That can happen in any class.

Mary had the song translated and sung in Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Spanish and Farsi -- just so it could be shared with children worldwide.
Been busy, hasn't she? Odd, the children in many of the countries that "received" her poem know more about war than she does.

did she sample the back beat from aboriginal Brazilian tribes? Will she pay the appropriate royalties? I think David Geffen wants her for his label.

How about the hope that they don't get sodomized by the guidance counselor?

Hmmmmm.
A classroom is not a proletariat playground for the mentally or emotionally limited/challenged?
What a concept!

You just haven't heard them with the melody. This is the music they play while you are on hold with Suicide Hotline...or in Hell.

Why do I get the feeling there is more to this story then what's being reported?

The kids would be better off learning a Sousa march.
