Well, "lightning never strikes twice in the same place" is not meant literally. It just means that such extraordinary events are unlikely to occur in the same domain twice. That's all I meant. It may be rather difficult to tell if lightning struck twice in the "exact" spot unless there were a shelter hit both times.

I am sure here that Justice Scalia's dissent is based on his view that there is no "right-to-die" anywhere in the Constitution of the United States. He is one of the strongest prolifers in the nation. I wish the attorneys for Terri could go directly to Scalia to get temporary relief before Oct. 15.

Wouldn't Nancy Cruzan still be living on life support had not her parents insisted that she be starved? Her father must have never recovered from his starvation directive, for he later took his own life, possibly in mental agony over his faulty decision. Or perhaps, the late Mr. Cruzan just had no respect for life period, Nancy's or his own. At least we know that Michael Schiavo respects HIS Mercedes-driving life but not that of others, such as the poor disabled.

Another point: How caqn Schiavo have a Mercedes when his "wife" is on Medicaid? Does this mean that he has withheld information about his financial status from the government? How could Michael do that!!! Kill Terri, yes, he has Pinellas Co. support, but lie to the government?? That may give Pinellas pause.

A prominent FL lawyer had a heart attack while jogging Wednesday. George W. Greer is also a lawyer known for his jogging. The man stricken was Jeb Bush's Democrat opponent in 2002.

TAMPA — Former gubernatorial candidate Bill McBride remained hospitalized in fair condition Wednesday, one day after he suffered sudden cardiac arrest while jogging and had his heart restarted with electric shock.

McBride, who lost to Gov. Jeb Bush last November, just completed a workout on a treadmill at Harbor Island Health Club when he passed out on a nearby stretching mat.

Longtime friend Bob Bolt said doctors were still trying to determine what caused McBride's heart to stop. Initial tests showed no abnormalities and McBride, 58, was in good spirits Wednesday at Tampa General Hospital, Bolt said.

"He was sitting up in bed. He was asking for his second bowl of cereal," said Bolt, managing partner of the Tampa law firm where McBride is a partner.

Nancy was eating food and drinking juice and quite probably could have become better at it with time. They put in her feeding tube to make institutional care run more smoothly.

So what do you think of Mr. Cruzan, MarMema? Was he inherently evil? Or did evil drive him to suicide? Did he have a guilty conscience. Did he even have a "conscience"? What happened to Mrs. Cruzan: has she reconciled herself to her loss? Did Nancy have brothers/sisters? Was Nancy fed by mouth after the feeding tube was removed. It is my understanding that Greer will NOT allow Terri to be fed by hand starting the evening of Oct. 15. What a horrible "judge" and what shame on the people of Pinellas Co.!

The pope is said to be nearing death, as does Terri. Is this a coincidence, or is God telling us something here?

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - A senior European cardinal said on Thursday Pope John Paul was nearing death -- the latest top churchman to ring alarm bells about the state of the 83-year old pontiff's health.

Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn made his comments on the same day the pope's private secretary was trying to play down concerns about the pope's evident frailty.

Pope John Paul, who suffers from Parkinson's Disease and can no longer walk without help, has appeared weaker than normal in recent public appearances and has struggled to speak at times.

"The whole world is experiencing a pope who is sick, handicapped and dying -- I don't know how close to death he is -- who is approaching the last days and months of his life," Schoenborn told Austrian radio.

Please don't call AG Crist, anyone.

Just keep praying that he doesn't intervene for the state. He'd have to argue that Florida's exit protocols are just fine, even if he doesn't feel that way personally.

Terri needs an independent guardian ad litem and a wide open investigation! Pray for that too.
