Didn't they kill Nancy anyway?

Yes. They found three former co-workers or roomies who said she would not have wanted to be kept alive as she was. And they killed her anyway. That was "clear and convincing" evidence. From something like 5 years or more previous.

"Just check out the Office of High Representative and that's how Howard Dean enters the picture. So many Dean supporters have no idea that his supporters in Vt are OHR members and anti-semitic. It's one scary google search, let me tell you"

Are you the one who brought that up a few days ago? You got my curiosity up then and I did a little search, but I guess I didn't find what you found. Howard Dean?? I hope you are right about him not winning, but who would have ever thought Clinton would have won not only once but twice? Do you have any good links on the OHR and Dean?

I remember reading about the Denver Airport a couple of years ago. Spooky-looking, waif-like kids with huge eyes, reports of lizard-like creatures underground and thousands of child slaves. I hope to God that was someone's overactive imagination, but reading some of this other stuff, and noting what is going with Terri, it does make me wonder. Is that what you are talking about?

So the parents' lawyers won on that basis? And now is this is the law in Missouri? That any old body can come along and say so and so wouldn't want to live like that, and the patient gets snuffed?

The US Supreme Court left it up to the states to determine clear and convincing evidence on their own.

Black Elk put it quite nicely in a post some time ago. He said we would not determine the fate of our pet goldfish by saying "I think Uncle Albert wanted Jaws to go to Bob's house", or something very similar. For which I then nominated Black Elk for post of the day.

And lest you become confused here, try to remember it is our *right* to die, our freedom to be killed, that is essential in these matters. It is the freedom from "being kept alive" that is the issue, you see.

We are not to be denied our right to die as an essential freedom and autonomy here in the USA. It is all about, ha, ha, if you can believe it, the protection of this supposed freedom from being kept alive.

I'm sure Nancy Cruzan is looking down and agreeing with me about what a farce it all is.

You're right. It is a farce. Their whole 'rule of law' is a farce. The tribe of Dan sits in Moses' seat.

Although eight of nine justices--only Scalia disagreed--concluded that the right to die was a liberty protected by the Due Process Clause, a bare majority of the Court upheld the state's insistence upon clear and specific evidence that the patient would wish to have intravenous feeding discontinued.

It is worse than a farce. It is becoming an epidemic.

"A recent survey of 879 doctors in intensive care units around the country indicates that eighty percent had terminated life support over the objections of family members, and fourteen percent had witheld treatment without informing the patient's family."

lifedebate

The medical journals are filled with doctors writing like the one who wrote to the St. Pete Times.

Just last night browsing, I came across three incidents where physicians had terminated life support for patients because they felt it was the right thing to do.

Well, it looks like a convoluted mess to me. Since it seems to be in everybody's interest except ours to have us dead, and because of the conflict of interest this would present in the event of an unforseen accident, I think my family will be looking into bracelets and lawyerly papers rejecting euthanasia and organ donation. Let the ghouls donate their own organs.

Class-action lawsuits. The only thing these kinds of people understand is their wallet. Hit them where it hurts. After they are bankrupt, THEN try them for murder.

It will take me some time to work my way through the lifedebate. It's interesting, and several thought-provoking comments have popped up already, like this one:

"With the powers for genetic engineering now gathering, there will be splendid new opportunities for a similar degradation of our view of man. Indeed, we are already witnessing the erosion of our idea of man as something splendid or divine, as a creature with freedom and dignity. And clearly, if we see ourselves as meat, then meat we shall become."

This sure isn't the America we grew up in is it? Even though I've been watching what has been happening to this country, it's still hard to believe we've reached this low (base) point.

And really it is all beyond simple. Everyone knows the world needs disabled people. Ask Stephen King.

Someone from Florida who is a Dean supporter from Hawthorne, FL listed his employer as The Office of High Representative. So, using OHR and combining it with "cult" because it sure sounded like one, sep of church & state meetups popped up. Aethists are also voting for HD as noted on the sep of church & state meetup sites.

You can probably combine Howard Dean and OHR and see what happens. There's a Baptist church in Vt who is not what it seems. I didn't want to save their url.

Dean is pro-euthanasia. That's why Mary Jo Melone asked in her recent column "what does Howard Dean have to do with this?" (Terri Schiavo). Melone didn't like to be accused of being a Dean supporter - I kind of think she is because she bothered to mention him. We'll see about that closer to the election. If she says she's for HD, then I'll call her and tell her "I knew it, Mary Jo!"

I stayed up all night throwing away pix negatives and sorting old photos. Once I started, I wanted to just get it over with. I have a "me" envelope now which wasn't easy because I'm usually the one taking the pictures.

Dying is a more important right than living because they can't make a dime off the living. It is about the money. Glenn Beck and others are right about that.

Just don't make an appointment with hubby's attorney. Even if you wrote down your last wishes, I think he'd probably find a way to revoke your wishes via his friend George G. or with a shredder.
