So your "real story" is from Diana Johnstone, a thoroughly discredited "journalist" who was even let go by that lefty rag The Nation for her way out views. For other articles by her, look in Andrew Cockburn's CounterPunch screed. She defends Milosevic, justifies Castro, and has been against the security policy of the United States in regard to everything from the Balkans to National Missile Defense, Afghanistan, and Iraq. It seems that if the USA had backed Milosevic, she would have been against him, too.

With clark/the clintons, now calling Bush a liar about Iraq, I realized that we GOP have to get the TRUTH out about the horors of the clinton/clark policies of Kosovo and the Balkans.

This is vital to Bush. Those demo losers need to have their faces rubbed in the mess they made in Kosovo.

The story comes back the same way from numerous sources which span the spectrum. In particular I do not regard Stratfor or our own pentagon as leftwing sources. The pentagon analyzed the situation in Yugoslavia and came to the conclusion that all of the reasons why anybody might want to do anything to Milosevic over Kosovo did not add up to a case and advised Slick not to do it. The overriding concern at the time of course was the Juanita Broaddrick story on the front page of our newspapers. When I think of all those little slavic orthodox kids getting killed over that it just makes me sick.

Thank you Lord, for a long time I'd been afraid I was the only person on Earth who saw that. If I was running a republican campaign against ANY sort of ticket with Wesley Clark on it, you'd see a children's chorus singing:

I hope you're right and, moreover, I hope that indicates that some sort of a basic change in American policy towards the Balkans is in the works. Ideal at this point might be simply turning the government of Kosovo over to the Russians and taxing democrats to pay for it.
