Dad was an active spy for the Soviets.
Mom assisted Dad in recruiting other operatives for the Soviets.
OK, I'd have probably been in favor of a life (or long) sentence for the mother
of two kids, no matter how vile her acts.
But the fact that Mom never cooperated (she kept her lips shut), she probably
sealed her fate.
Well covered in the PBS NOVA episode "Secret, Lies, and Atomic Spies".
(I'll give you a BARF alert about the interviews with the holier-than-thou
Soviet spy Ted Hall and his smug wife in that NOVA episode.)

Very interesting. So now, one of the Meerapole brothers does believe his parents were guilty. There's a crack there....their whole life AND CAREERS were about their parents! This was their money maker! What to do what to do! Their parents WERE GUILTY as heck! Now how will they make their democrat/commie money?
To: 07055
They were traitors and died like dogs. As they should have.
To: 07055
''Whatever actions'' his parents ''took sprang from their love of humanity, not from
a particular allegiance to the Soviet Union. . . . I believe,'' he writes,
''that my parents acted patriotically even if Venona is accurate.''
Yeah, even if his parents work provided the means for a nuclear strike on the USA
by the USSR...

Both Rosenbergs deserved their executions. So does John Walker Lindh, as well as the Muslim Army chaplain arrested yesterday.

''Whatever actions'' his parents ''took sprang from their love of humanity So what if "love of humanity" meant the deaths of millions of individual people.

Now how will they make their democrat/commie money? Join either the Dean or Clark/Hillary Presidential campaigns as consultants.

VOA, dbp, no pardons, meg33 and I discussed this on another thread a couple of months ago.
Basically, the state department did not want to put anyone to death. They had a phone line installed in Hoover's office and the President's office just in case they wanted to confess to anything.
They pleaded with the Julius. They told him to just cooperate and Ethyl would do NO TIME, and he would be out of jail in a few years.
Julius Rosenberg said no, and apparantly was severely stubborn. It's actually his fault that the wife and he were put to death. If only he had acted with his children in mind...but no. He was more loyal to the CPUSA than to his children and wife.
Not a patriot by any means. Commies never are, and really there aren't any Democrats that I can think of that are patriots (except Zell Miller).

They will find an anti American "cause" to get involved in.

Read "Commies" by Ronald Rodash (recommended by Ann Coulter). In the book, Rodash, a former communist that was raised by communists, names the names. Including the Meerpols(sp).
The guy takes you to so-called "red-diaper" summer camps. Even identifies a commie school in New York, which he attended. His old classmate, Mary Travers (Peter Paul and Mary). His meeting Bobby Zimmerman (Dylan), and the entire cast of the anti-American left.
The thing most fascinating about this book is how many outright communists there were and are in US society. More importantly, how the press shields them by trying to make Joseph McCarthy misinformed, evil, and off the mark.
Hell, McCarthy and others missed the great majority of these traitors. And many of them are running free today.

Yes, according to the revisionists, the only villains during the Cold War were the anti-Communists. McCarthy was *much* worse than Stalin.

their whole life AND CAREERS were about their parents! This was their money maker! Until Venona hammered the last nail into the Rosenberg coffin the Meeropole brothers were cynically used as propaganda tools by the Communist Left. Even with absolute proof, this amazing propaganda machine -- propped up by major media like the N.Y. Times -- have tried to wring as much sympathy as possible for the Communist cause. Even this article, which ever so slowly gets to the hard facts, emphasizes "humanitarian" aspects of Communism (ask gulag survivors or relatives of the Terror vicims about that!)
All the Rosenbergs ever had to do to save their lives was confess. They chose execution, leaving two small surviving sons. That's an example of Communist "humanitarianism."

Just finished Treason last night, great book and infuriating as well. The Rosenbergs got just what they deserved.

This was published in the Times?
Wow. I am shocked! This doesn't go along with the usual commie propaganda!

Secrets, Lies, and Atomic Spies was a must watch TV show. PBS was reshowing it about a month ago. The really funny thing about it was how, after showing the extent of Soviet penetration of the U.S. government, they still managed to work in a swipe at Joseph McCarthy. That "McCarthyism" thing has been too golden to let go of, I suppose.
(BTW, this documentary was clearly a Brit made show, why is it that American networks routinely remove the British narration of such shows and dub in an American one? Shouldn't the audience be made aware of the origin of these shows, to better judge their point of view?)

Coulter's book was great when it talked about McCarthy. I never realized how brainwashed all of us, even me, are by the press, when we haven't done our own research. Case in point, the common misconception that *SENATOR* McCarthy ran the *HOUSE* Unamerican Activities Commission.

their new cause -- to give mom & dad the hero treatment like the movie bonnie and clyde --
after all, as long as you believe in your heart you are right -- then who is anyone to judge them -- why just those nutty Christians, who are the cause of all this country's problems with their God and flag waving..............
