The Grid as we will know it after Congress gets done with it.
You don't need graphics to read and reply to Free Republic. I do most of my surfing with Lynx, a text browser. It's amazing how fast the Web is when you don't have to deal with graphics and pop-ups. The main downside is that some web sites are impossible to use without graphics because they hide navigation and text behind graphics (which are not properly labelled with an "ALT" tag), a plug-in, or an applet.
If you can find an ISP that provides an old-style "shell" or terminal server dial-up or can find a TCP/IP stack and a telnet program for the OS in question, you should be able to surf with some pretty ancient hardware.

That's not a mock-up, it's a working prototype. And orders are now being taken. True, for a product that has not yet begun to roll off the assembly line. But the details seem to be coalescing, there are definite orders being taken, with written promises to provide the product, and I don't see much keeping this bird from taking flight except governmental paperwork.
On second thought, that could take a while to work through.
Very interesting.
BTW, is "Dr.Joseph Warren" your real name, or did you adopt your nom d'ecran in honor of the Revolutionary War hero?
Correct! My screen name is in honor of Dr. Joseph Warren, one of the pivotal leaders of the Revolutionary War. He probably would have been one of our early presidents had he not been killed at Bunker Hill.
