You're assuming that they value logic and principle - - i.e. tradition conservative values - - as opposed to shallow emotional, hormone-driven celebrity worship (i.e. a vapidness traditionally associated with the liberals' "base" voters). GOP Arnold supporters are giving themselves over to the same degraded instincts as Democrats, so don't expect them to rise to your challenge to explain the contradictions. When you let your glands and groin supersede your brain, contradictions and inconsistencies and other incovenient intrusions don't matter.

The objective is to get the Democrats OUT of the statehouse. Whoever can do that is the guy for the Republicans to support ~ never mind most of the social issues.

Why can't he say, with no hedging, that he won't raise taxes? Why did he call supporters of Ward Connerly's race privacy plan, "right wing crazies"? He doesn't like conservatives, and the smart ones (as opposed to the sheeple among them) return the favor.

We knew Schwarzenegger recruited tax-hiking advisers. Now we know he has tree-hugging ones too. Both foreshadow an anti-business Schwarzenegger governorship. Before the country club elite bamboozle Republicans into crowning Schwarzenegger, the rank-and-file should ask themselves: Did we register with the Republican Party to spread Kennedy liberalism or stop it?

I think California Republican's are committing mass suicide by supporting the environmentally leftwing and liberal minded candidate, Arnold "der" Schwarzenegger. Sort of like, "der schlickmeister".

I am not a Californian, but it would seem reasonable to support the conservative McClintock because of his principles. The future has to be considered more than today. He might lose to Bustamonte but Bustamonte will screw up the economy enough that a conservative will look good in two years. If McClintock wins, he will be a good example of what a conservative can do that stands on conservative principles. I cannot understand the current situation where Republicans take winning so seriously that they will abandon principle. They become as irresponsible as the Democrats with this attitude.
