Once again, look at the M.O..
They went after an exposed truck convoy. Not an armored vehicle to be had. They did not go after dismounted infantry. I don't want to think of what the Iraqis looked like after the infantry got done with them.
There is a reason the Marines suffered no KIA after May 1.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

I think it was 8 straight days, broken on Tuesday, unfortunately, with two more deaths. May they rest in peace.

Mike is sound, but not safe...he's in the Sunni triangle..Balad( a place you hear nothing about)..his base(Camp Anaconda) has over 20,000 US troops, they have been mortared at least once a day and sometimes many more...so far, no deaths, just injuries....they keep hunting them down. killing/capturing them, but there are more to take their place.

There was a fascinating "lessons learned" publice debriefing held in early August by USMC Lt General Conway, Major Generals Mattis & Amos, and other Marine commanders. It was shown on CSPAN 3 at 3 am, but it was very, very enlightening to me.
They noted that the Army strategy of putting Command HQs out in the boondocks, accessable only by rough roads was instrumental, in their opinion, to the casualties they were taking. Many of the KIAs and woundings the Army has suffered has been attacks on Convoys, slowed by rough road and reliably predictable to enemies given the remote location of the Command centers and the singular roadway access to them.

I agree with youAgree with what? Would you like to share that with us or is this a on-on-one chat line? Almost everone includes a prvious response from the sender, and then responds to the sender so that we can "connect the dots" without have to wend our way through possible 200 messages. Make sense to you?

I am glad that he is not harmed
To: section9
Well, guerrillas don't try to attack strength.
They attack the weakest spots to build up more and support, don't they?

Okay. I am sorry.
I am not really skilled with html.

I will be sure to pray daily for your hubby's safety
To: InterceptPoint
That is true that we did not suffer any casualties for almost 8 days.
I am so sad to see that that streak has been shattered
To: mystery-ak
...if they are going to start wearing masks, it should make it a litler easier to identify these terrorist.....IMHO they should have leveled the town, but that's just me.My thoughts exactly. If I were a major running this gig, I'd say to my guys, if you see a guy wearing a mask, he's fair game for a three bullet burst .223 lead injection.... Then move on. Sweep the streets until these nut-case Islamic (religion of peace) assholes dry up or shoot themselves in the head and get laid in hell. </end rant> But "I did good" as Stainman would say.

Okay. I am sorry. Hang in there. There are a whole bunch of folks here that are ten times smarter than I am on this HTML venue.
I am not really skilled with html.
It's not that tough. I don't know HTML either compared to most of FReepers.
About all I know is that you can do a copy, then when you hit reply just type carat symbol the letter "I" carat symbol then paste. That will italicize what you copied. Then you can reply to that sentence/paragraph/whatever you pasted, then... turn off the italisize by typing carat symbol the "/" symbol, the letter "I" and then the close carat symbol. I'm still ttrying to figure out how to get pictures of my 1964 AC Cobra pictures on Free Republic.

I hope to God that our military adopts the ROK Tiger Division tactics from the Vietnam era Hmmmmm??? Maybe we should ask for a few ROK combat brigades for Iraq...they could work on there hunting scumbag skills.
To: PatrioticCowboy
Considerate of them to wear masks. Helps our guys know who to shoot.

Indeed. The ROKs would most definitely give the Saddomites a lesson in effective tactics.
