Is Tancredo the best or what? He is about the only true statesman left in D.C. and would make one of the best Presidents the US will ever see. I'm a broken glass Tancredoian, I'd crawl thru broken glass to vote for him.

Bump!
Thanks for the ping, gubamyster!
Good for Tancredo. I like that guy. Heck even with federal highway funds, some of the roads are still crapola.

Our roads here in California are already the worst in the nation, but I applaud this effort. Let 'em get worse. Maybe if we're driving on gravel road, sacramento will notice there's a problem.

Let's face reality. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats even care about illegal immigration. Both parties have vested interests in illegal immigration and neither party will do anything to stop it. Both parties face stiff political pressure not to stop illegal immigration. Anyone who does will be loudly condemned as a racist and anti-hispanic. These people are use to getting their way by throwing temper tantrums. What can anyone in public office do that wouldn't be suicidal to his career?

I've heard that when SB 60 is signed, Colorado has legislation that will no longer accept CA drivers license as a valid proof of identification. Yeah, I have a feeling that once this bill is signed, my California Driver's License will no longer be accepted as valid ID anywhere in this country.
And I bet it won't be long before the other states rescind their reciprocity laws, meaning they will no longer honor a CA-DL holder's priveledge to drive in their states.
Great. Besides driving, how are you going to cash traveler's checks? Will the airlines no longer accept CDL's as proper identification? If Davis signs this, we will be treated as foreigners in our own country.
Evil thought: I'm sure the Federal Government will institute National ID's to accomodate Gray Davis single minded determination to send this state to Aztlan hell. This way we can get permission from Big Brother to be allowed to travel "freely" in our own country.

I think Tancredo has a GREAT idea, In fact, I would like to see the rest of the 49 states refuse to accept California drivers licenses as valid for driving in their respective states. Mexifornia can do what they wish but the rest of us don't have to agree. Why call anything illegal in Mexifornia? I think Tancredo's idea is great too. I understand and approve of other states protecting their citizens, but we in CA are going to be completely screwed should this happen. I don't travel out of state, but drivers licenses have always been used to cash checks, register in hotels, book airline flights. My God, do you realize that actual citizens of Ca will be treated like foreigners? Glad my dad isn't alive to see this...

Not to worry my wise Spotted Owl...the day after the Dimwit Davis signs this bill we will be putting a referendum together to reverse the law...which will automatically put a stay on the law until there is a vote on the referendum...we might just put a proposition together to eliminate the state income tax while we're at it! :-) VOTE4MCCLINTOCK or pay the con$equence$! click here to learn more

Tancredo has been called every name in the book, but he won his re-election with some 70% of the vote, and still has his career. Seems like anyone seeking election might want to join Tom with his on-going pursuit to CLEAN our own *house* first.

That's the same problem those of us here in Tennessee faced when the state eliminated the requirement for social security numbers- which I could cheerfully support, though not for the reason for their changed policy- to accomodate illegal alien resuidents who had none.
Since other states then viewed the Tennessee operator's permit with uinderstandable suspicion, I picked up a concealed carry permit to augment it. That one's much more happily accepted most places.

Yep. That's the first thing I thought. How can anyone argue against the subject now? This needs to be shouted from the rooftops on talk radio. Sure we're pissed off that illegals can just walk in and get a driver's license, but this bill is going to act like a pebble being dropped in a lake. The ripple effect will be continous.

It is obvious that Tancredo it to the Republican Leadership, what Traficant was to the Democratic Leadership. Or what Abraham Lincoln was to the Whigs.

There are some moves that are mind-bogglingly stupid. Cutting off driving priveleges is one of them.
