Mine was 115 as well, in a '72 Grand Prix (400ci, with a 4 bbl), on I-265.

Got you beat -- 95mph in a Fiat 850 Coupe (300mph if you scale it to the size of a Delta 88)

Faenza says the wheels on his Lamborghini start to shake when he goes faster than 70.

That is the aircraft style stall warning indicator (stick shaker). It means use more power, you are about to stop moving.

My personal best on 4 wheels was 140 (SH 249, Houston, Tx) in my 89 BMW 750iL. There was more, but there was traffic. The car is limited to 155 and it was solid as a rock. On two wheels, 130.. Honda V65.. The bike could do more, but that was my limit.

I could still get the rear wheels of my Sunbeam Tiger to hop off the pavement by accelerating at 70 mph.

I was a passenger in a 1964 Chevelle SS when stopped by the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The ticket read 140+ as that was the limit they had clocked us at. The car had a 327 with an old Muncie knuckle buster 4spd behind it. We had swapped out the rear end that morning, replacing the drag racing 4:57 with a more sedate 2:73. Made quite a difference in the top end, but the highway patrolman did not think it was funny. Neither did my dad. I was only 15 at the time and he had to drive 75 miles to pick me up. A very quiet ride on the way home. The owner/driver of the Chevelle was a guest of the state for 30 days on that one.

I owned a Jaguar E Type that would do 140 and I took it there briefly on a long strech of straight road. The faster I went, the lower the car was to the blacktop (or at least it seemed that way).

"Besides, Faenza says the wheels on his Lamborghini start to shake when he goes faster than 70."

How do you get this thing out of second gear?!

My Nissan topped out at 115-120.

Book said 158 on my Z, lost my nerve at 145 with about 800 rpms left to redline. Couldn't get the thought of a deer stepping out 1/2 mile in front of me and taking the top off along with my head

12 cyl. or 6? Is it true you had to adjust the timing on those things every month?

...according to the computer...

D@mn! Had a '86 VW GLI up to 104. Never thought to check the mpg. Not being used to driving that fast,
I was probably concentrating on other things.

Driving around the limit with a strong tail wind, got upwards of 50mpg one trip. "Expected" mileage was 34-38 for highway.

In 1988 I got a ticket for 143mph in a 55 zone. I knew the cop was lying because I was going faster than that.

1987 Mustang GT, BTW.

I have had 3 different Ferrarri over 180:
'64 250GTE, was pushing so hard I was too worried about the car to worry about me.
'72 Daytona Spyder, with the top down, the wind will almost rip your ears off. Are we having fun yet?
'63 250GTO, this car should always be driven this fast, but gawd is it loud.

1966 4.2 liter 6 cyl. Once the valves were correctly adjusted with the right shims and all three carbs were clean, it would run for 12 months without any adjustment.
