Thanks, the episode is disturbing. I was shocked that senior officers would help themselves to loot the Nazis seized from people destined for the camps.

I did some checking and it seems the lawsuit was settled in 2005. At least the government paid something in reparations. I agree with Eizenstat that the U.S. government ought to hold itself to the same standard it urges on European governments.
