"I agree with you in a dumbed-down 2nd Amendment sort of way but you are way beyond loony."
To whose benefit does this attitude serve?
Freedom or the states interest?
Keep in mind the state has proven unable to protect you so now it must create the illusion that you are under attack in order to justify its existence.

Keep in mind the state was proven unable to protect you, despite investing trillions into national security, so now it has a vested interest in ensuring that the public that pays the freight believes it is protecting you.

You're the one who supports letting everyone bringing whatever weapons they wish aboard the airplane. That includes the terrorists.
Firearms favor the organized small group that has trained together over the mob that has not trained together (or even met) prior to the enaggement--which, by definition, will come by surprise.
It's why good armies try to train their troops together. It's why the US military's performance in Vietnam was subpar compared to World War II.
An unarmed melee is exactly the reverse--the many, even a disorganized mob, will overcome the few.

FROM THE ARTICLE:
Many have died and more will do the same.
But each will have sacrificed to directly protect
the United States of America and its people.
Which is the sole purpose of the United States military.
There is a direct link between Iraq and
terrorism against America.
This truth and the proof of same will be revealed when it
is in America's best interest to do so, not CNN's.
To: JohnGalt
"its a good thing that US soldiers are targets for terrorists rather than American citizens at home." If you wish to tie that back to sound American conservative thinking, be my guest...
I'll take your challenge. Since I've already made this point, I don't really expect you to read/understand it, but I'll say it again.
The author isn't saying it's good that American soldiers are dying. You are taking it out of context to say it that way. He's saying that it's good they are the targets and not the American citizenry. In this, he is right. We've changed the focus for our enemies from attacking our soft underbellies (and no matter how armed the citizenry, we are still the easier target because we aren't trained and organized for counterterrorism operations--we're busy living our lives) to attacking our military strength head on. The result has been lemming-like--they lose on a nearly 100-1 ratio. If they keep this up, we'll be rid of them eventually. If we allow them freedom to attack us at home, far more Americans will die and the terrorists will never stop attacking. In your scenario, we change our way of life from one of liberty to one of an armed camp. We already have an armed camp to defend us. Stopping the living of our daily lives stops our economy, our charity, our faith and gives the terrorists their victory.
I'll take our current approach over the alternative any day.

I know you well enough that you are not this stupid, but I will engage at this level for the purpose of demonstrating what a waste of time game playing is:
Oh do you mean that I support private enterprise and the marketplace determining what level of security be it in the form of armed marshall on the plane or a well-armed citizenry and competent pre-screening procedure of who is on the plane.
Since I guess you don't support that are you a COMMUNIST?
That is such a stupid level of debate Poobah no better than the fellow who said stupid stuff about George W being a murderer.

You are one of the few who uses Vietnam logic "they lose on a nearly 100-1 ratio" and pretend its a conservative argument.

YOU SAID:
If Bush and Cheney are so in favor of Liberty, then why have they done so much to trample on our bill of rights? (patriot act etc)
Leftist American citizens, and their cohorts in the media,
by aiding and abetting our enemies during wartime,
are FAR more dangerous to the freedoms that we enjoy
as Americans, than the Patriot Act could ever be.

Give it up, John. You're a kook. The previous administration was asleep at the wheel. How many major terroris attacks against us have succeeded since 9/11?

The government is finally doing its job.

The US military in Iraq is a giant purple bug-zapper light, drawing all the islamocrazy jihadists in the world.
Bring it on! Zap! Crackle! Another jihadi bites the dust!
Better over there, than in our malls and theaters.
