Rob Lowe

I don't believe Rob Lowe has been appointed to anything.

"If Arnold got Ben Stein as an advisor, I'd really sit up and pay attention!"

Yeah, Ben is a California resident (San Fernando Valley). Republican too. Maybe Ben's next on Arnold's list!

Need to change the line in "Buehler" from "Buehler? .......Buehler? ........Buehler? ......." to "California? ....... California? ....... California? .......". The similarities are painfully remarkable, knowhaddImean???

Let me guess who's next:

Health Director: Richard Simmons (quoted as saying upon appointment: "I'm a Pony")
or
Neil Patrick "Doogie" Harris

Attorney General: Is Perry Mason alive? if not get us Ben Matlock (we'll lock in the Senior vote)

But McClintock is not getting a fair shake.

You do not seriously expect a real Republican to get a fair shake from the California media do you?

The wiser move for McClintock would be to get on board the Arnie wagon and strike a deal to be a key member of his staff, such as Chief of Staff. Let Arnie be the front guy, while McClintock takes care of what he knows best - the political inner workings.

If Arnies term as Gov. is succesful, they both win. if not then McClintock will not be seen as the bad guy, although they may try to portray him as such.

He's not done yet. I can definitely see him trying it.

A very good move.
I expect the teachers union to hate it though.

Maybe Ben's next on Arnold's list!

Are you kidding? Ben came out against Arnold recently. Ben will definitely not be on Arnold's team.

Is this the movie about the teacher who works his butt off trying to prep his underachieving students for the SATs? If it is, then I second that recommendation. Great movie.

Fascinating. Looks like Arnold is taking a page from the W playbook, and finding good, solid, knowledgable & respected experts to surround him.

After the Buffett misstep, he could be back on a roll, until the Bustamonte-McCintock-"hate Arnold"-"he's just a RINO" bandwagon folks show up again.

You're right. . . "Stand and Deliver" covers the successes earlier in Escalante's teaching career (Garfield HS, Los Angeles Unified School District. . . can you say "The Giant"). I have been privileged to meet Mr. Escalante while taking my Teacher Education classes at Cal State L. A. and I learned from him after his speech to education students that he expected to get out of "The Giant" due to the bureaucratic ropes which were beginning to entangle him too severely. Then he went up state to the Sacramento area to teach. I believe he is still living there.

Anyways, for a while, the going was good for him at Garfield High. Excellence demands excellence, and the entrenched power wanted him to abandon ship - lest they be found out to be the rats they are!

Does anyone remember the quote from Ronald Reagan where he says something like:

'There's no limit to what a man can accomplish as long as he doesn't mind who takes the credit'

Anyone?

Well, this particular guy is the real deal. If he can be given real power and influence in education reform, heads will roll at the LAUSD - and quite rightly, too!

And I agree entirely with Paladinkc - this is indeed the Bush playbook. Remember, they're friends.
