Didn't Hebrews commit genocide on the Canaanites and didn't Xtians execute pagans in ritual fashion to appease an angry God? Goes to show fanatics exist in every culture. The vast majority of Xtians and pagans of course do not sacrifice or cannibalize others.

I have no idea what an Xtian is, mate. I responded to your statement that 'pagans prohibited murder.' That was completely untrue. Do you usually have this much trouble acknowledging your errors?

Hammurabi wrote the first legal code a 1000 years before the Ten Commandments, It forbade murder, thievery among other crimes. He was the pagan king of Babylon. Roman, Greek, and Chinese pagan law codes also forbade murder and thieving. Our legal system derives from Roman and English law. Yes, they were originally pagan. The Greek letter X was used by early Christians to represent Christ. That is where you get Xmas.

That's all completely irrelevant.

You said the pagans prohibited murder. That was completely untrue- in fact, they practised it, as part of their rituals. Show a bit of character and admit you were wrong. Cheers, By

I'm sure the poster is trying to make a point. My point is, who cares if there is a monument to Cthulhu? As long as no one is forcing me to bow before it, say prayers to it or something like that, I'd just walk right by it as I went up the steps. It would be meaningless to me.

If the 10 commandments are meaningless to you (or to anyone else), just walk right by the monument. Why get your panties in a twist about it?

Would you like quotes from the Koran on your drivers license?

Sound far fetched?

How about quotes from the Mormon leader Joseph Smith on your Utah auto license plates?

What if a majority of some minority in a town in New Jersey decides that calls for prayers for their particular religion will be broadcast from a loud speaker from the town hall, 4 times a day?

As I stated before, people were forced to join churches in Europe and in the pre-constitutional US - or be bannished or worse.

It's a slippery slope.

Yes, our nation was founded on Christain principals, but we are much more pluralistic now and people have a right to worship just about any way they like.

It may take years or even decades, but the use of State Propery to promote a particular set of religous principals will come back to bite us, Christains and all.

"Pagans" are not a monolithic group. I'm sure there were pagan societies that did not prohibit murder, just as there are many who did. Regardless, it's clearly not the case that the 10 Commandments are the foundation of our law when many are not codified (the 1st Amendment specifically says that we can break several of them), and the ones that are are also found in many other belief systems.

people would never understand things until they see them and once they see them, they will star questioning them until they find a fault, but there is a fault in everything that does not mean it doesn't exist.and powerful people will not believe something stronger than human being or the creation of mankind(machines), cause power to them is money but money is tree and it is only another sort of life that we use to live on. until one day something changes and everybody wants to believe cause they want to enter the afterlife, until than they will never understand. but you can't blame them for the last 2000 years we been livin life by and for mankind, never to question or to train our mind of great powers for protection against evil.

Funny, I don't seem to be able to find the Ten Comandments listed in my copies of either the Declaration Of Independance, The Constitution, or the Bill Of Rights; nor can I find reference to ANY specific religion or its tenets.

Listening to some posters here, one would be forgiven for thinking that they would be prominently featured, and codified therein. Also, one might think that SOME reference to America as a "Christian nation" would be there in inescapable form, as well.

HMMmm, just checked again...nope. Do I have an incorrect copy?

Wouldn't Nyarlothep be more to PETA's liking?

The IRS is more like Lloigor.

On the other hand, "The Call of Cthulhu" (with Clark Gable and Loretta Young) has (fortunately) never been released.

Wasn't Kerry looking for a running mate to help balance out the ticket? I think this would be a great opportunity for the old squid headed monstrosity to jump into the ring and show the world a soul shattering vision of the wretched, uncharted depths of evil, insanity, and rugose foulness that exist just beyond the reach of our senses. However, Hillary may not want to run until 2008.

In that case, it would narrow the field to Sharpton, Edwards, or Cthulhu. Tough call, tough call.
