Yep, the citizens of Alexandria didn't feel like they were getting adequate representation, so they petitioned for the retrocession. Nowadays, Old Town Alexandria is a much better place than Georgetown for visiting, touring, and even for safe, good nightlife.

I've been to DC a few times in the past and it's a beautiful historic city. Did have a hard time manuvering the roads though. Now I understand, it wasn't our fault!

Retrocede most of DC back to it's home state of Maryland (as Virginia already did years ago) and make it a new county in exchange for repeal of the 23rd amendment. DC residents would get representation, but NO statehood. Democrats would get one additional seat in the House, solidify their lock on two 'Rat US senators, and improve their chances at electing a 'Rat governor in exchange for only losing two electoral votes. They're fools for not doing it.

Morning, Tooters. I love the bluebirds, too. Can't take credit for MOST of them though - most of the graphics (including this one) with the bluebirds are compliments of ST.LOUIE1. He stuck the nickname, BillieBlue, on me quite some time ago, and it just caught on. I love it, as well as all the bluebirds others have given me. :) This is still one of my favorites, 'cause it's just so cute and happy:

Why doesn't DC make it so that a Virginia vehicle safety inspection is valid there? I mean it would be tantamount to them admitting that their fine city is messed up...but it's not like anyone who isn't living under a rock doesn't know.
