You could be right. I don't get the feeling from Kristol's essay that he's a revolutionary -- or a conservative either. He looks more like a liberal -- no friend, as you note to local government or traditional institutions, but not quite Lenin.

Neocon Michael Ledeen, though, certainly spends a lot of time talking like a true radical: "Change--above all violent change--is the essence of human history." "Creative destruction is our middle name. We do it automatically...it is time once again to export the democratic revolution." New thread here.

He is brighter than me.

Well, that is a compliment because you are one of the bright posters. And there is not much brightness around this year.

I find this an interesting statement:

the U.S., under an ostensibly conservative chief executive, is undertaking a social engineering project beyond the wildest dreams of any Soviet commissar. Even the rhetoric of the War Party has acquired a Soviet lilt, complete with routine references to the "liberation" of Iraq and clumsy propaganda campaigns like the saga of Jessica Lynch.

All the talk about liberation is indeed very Soviet era, likewise the brazen "lies are truth" elements like the WMDs stuff.
