Wonder how bad Memphis is getting screwed in this. You can be sure she's getting more than 160,000 a year!
To: Lijahsbubbe
Just think how much smarter the kids in Memphis will be when she walks through the door.

I thought that this was another Lorena Bobbitt story...ie. "johnson severance".
Seriously, though, the principal at my niece's elementary school was caught embezzling fund raiser money and driving over to the Indian casino during school hours to spend it.
She was allowed to resign, which means she keeps her retirement, given a deferred sentence with 1000 hours of community service, and has to repay the amount she took. Not too bad a deal. Maybe the Thunderbird Wild Wild West Casino can use up her 1000 hours of community service as a volunteer blackjack dealer.

Loook like she's heading my way. Wonder how bad Memphis is getting screwed in this.My understanding is that all of the candidates for the position were black. Where's the racial balance here? If all of the candidates were white you could hear the screams of outrage from the black so-called "leadership" all the way to the Canadian border.

On the money.
THe educational establishment needs to be downsized, just like the local companies which ultimately support it by paying the wages of the taxpayers.
The middle management layers of any school disrict are overlarded with functionaries who literally have no legitimate function. Just like local industry, the middle management layers have to be trimmed way back. Some school districts must close up shop, just like the many industries in the towns of America who couldn't cut it, or get the right product to the right market.
Most school districts are not delivering in their primary areas of responsibility. Those who run them deserve no sympathy and even less funding.

Our U of M President left this year for greener pastures also. I believe he went to Texas. I remember his salary being somewhere around 800,000. Of course they have to raise tuition this year because they don't have enough money.

"Nope. Doesn't sound typical to me. How do you get 75,000 from 122 days of sick pay?"
Well, 122 days is about 25 weeks. That is almost 1/2 year. A salary of $160,000 would yield that amount. Simple public school math.

That's right. And that's still more than 600 dollars a day, which I think is crazy. Now she's leaving. She'll get more money in Memphis, and the next person they recruit for here will get more money than her. Then they'll leave in 2 0r 3 years and the cycle continues. All the while, taxes go up and schools are in the crap pile.
To: Lijahsbubbe
I agree with your ultimate conclusion. I saw the same thing happen in Sioux City, Iowa in 1990.
Lopsided school administrative costs are terrible.

600 dollars a day to manage how many employees and students? It actually isn't that much money.
