Apparently, the people do not know what is good for them. Thank goodness we have elected officals to set us straight!</sarcasm>

We tried this in California. We qualified for the ballot. We overwhelmingly approved it. A judge overturned the people. Our weanie ass governor decided not to fight the judge.

Even if it does get on the ballot and passes, the courts will throw it out. Just like here in The Peoples Republik of Kalifornia.

Who has the power to appeal the Referendum to SCOTUS?
Is it the Governor of Arizona or can it be a private citizen who supported the initiative?

The members of Congress said the burden for securing the border is a federal one. Then why doesn't Congress do it? Because they're not securing the border and enforcing the laws is why initiatives like this one are popping up.
If congressmen want to make themselves useful for a change, how about they support Charlie Norwood's Clear Act. Send illegals packing and the issue will go away.

The members of Congress said the burden for securing the border is a federal one. They also said because similar proposals in other states have been struck down. Well get after it, if the Feds were doing the job that the they are REQUIRED to do, there would be no need for this would there.

"Anti-immigrant intiative?"
So? Nothing in the Constitution says we have to be hospitable to foreign invaders into our country.
Kolbe should pay close attention. He's about to be voted out of office if this shows up the same time that his re-election does.

We tried this in California. We qualified for the ballot. We overwhelmingly approved it. A judge overturned the people. Our weanie ass governor decided not to fight the judge. To be clear, it was a FEDERAL JUDGE that initially declared our free election illegal, after we won big. The state government, working in concert with the federal government made sure it was buried.
The responsibility for border security and protection of our sovereignty lies with the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. They have failed to do their constitutional duty. That is why this invasion of millions of illegal aliens is no longer isolated to the southwest United States...

failed to do their constitutional duty That is it in a nut shell, the Rats & Rino's don't want any thing to do with what they required to do.

Is it the Governor of Arizona or can it be a private citizen who supported the initiative? Private citizen would have no standing- it would have o be the governor or other qualified government official (based on Arizona law)

I voted for prop. 187 here in California. I am really hoping that Arizona learns from whatever mistakes we made in the language of the prop.(ie. covering their bases) so they don't get their initiative overturned by the courts as we did.
I am really keen to see what is done with the proof of nationality in respect to voting when/if this passes and goes to the courts.

I don't see how any person who shoots and kills invaders crossing into the country could be jailed. Ummm.... murder? You only have the right to use deadly force in self-defense against deadly force or serious non-deadly force. You can't just shoot lawbreakers.
