Don't overreact...I think she meant that it is unlikely given the fact that West Virginia is overwhelmingly white (95% plus) that a black man would be able to escape notice.

In certain parts. As Timesink noted, the cities - especially the Charleston area - have a higher percentage of black population than the rural areas, and most people in Kanawha County wouldn't think twice - or care - about seeing a black person in their midst. One of the towns near the shootings is Rand, better known as Randy Moss' home town, and I doubt a black man is considered an oddity there.

The Zebra killers went on Jhad against whites, shooting some and hacking others to death with a machete. One of those shot was the son of DuPont exec Nelson "Pete" Shields who then formed one of the first anti-gun groups in the US which later became known as Handgun Control Inc.(HCI) now known as The Brady Campaign.
One wonders what would have happened if his son had been hacked to death instead of being shot.

No, I've always been very aware of current events and a student of history. Like I said, I have heard of numerous serial killers which were before my time, but I have not heard of this once. Amazing!

The question I have is whether or not the gun he's using was bought for this purpose or was it something he had before he started acting nuts?

If it's a small centerfire, it may mean he isn't one of the thousands of deer hunters in West Virginia.

If he's using a .22, it may mean he isn't someone with a lot of money and could be one of the thousands of squirrel hunters that live there.

Last time we were looking for a white male in a white van. Turned out to be black males in a blue sedan....hmmmm, perhaps the white man in the black truck was speeding away from the scene BECAUSE HE HEARD GUNSHOTS! I don't drive a pickup but I come from a predominately white family and, speaking only for myself, us white folks RUN THE OTHER WAY when we hear gunshots at the Circle-K.

"Small" centerfire includes .243, an excellent deerslayer. There are some who use .223 for deer as well, with good results. Given that the guy shoots fairly well, it's not impossible to believe that he's a deer hunter, even with the smaller ammo.

You don't really need .308/.30-06/.30-30 to kill a deer at less than 200 yards.
