I like it. It's the diametric opposite of what the "gay" community is after.
Well said. That's exactly what's so irritating about it.
In truth, the advocates of so-called gay marriage couldn't care less about gays or marriage. This is just one more element in their ongoing campaign to destroy western civilization and replace it with their own version of utopia.
I would almost be prepared to approve of gay marriage as part of a package deal outlawing extra-marital sex, adultery, abortion and divorce except under the most stringent limitations. Let's see how devoted the liberals are to homosexual rights and rites when that's the counter-offer.
In that case, I guess you should send a goon squad to Panama City beach during spring break.
Just to keep things in perspective here, let's all remember that while everyone on these threads keeps talking as if the definition of marriage is and always has been universally one man and one woman, this is simply not the case. This is simply the Judeo-Christian tradition. It's also the norm in America.
And while it may be the norm for the majority of Judeo Christian Americans, that doesn't support the argument that those who would choose something different must be proscribed from that choice if the majority doesn't like it. It's the arrogant usurpation of some else's liberty. It's the assertion that I can not only dictate what's healthy and permissible for my own family, but for my neighbors as well. That may be the way it is in communist nations, but not in a free nation.
Thankfully, a lot of the hand wringing over this subject is simply theoretical. Economic forces will prevent most people from choosing polygamy anyway. People are already having fewer children. Would many people opt to be a polygamist, having five wives and twelve children? Not likely.
And if it's not economics, it's social. Who wants to have five mothers in law?
There are simply so few people who would choose polygamy that it's nothing more than anecdotal. You might see a story about a polygamist family on Inside Edition sometime, but it's newsworthy only because it is so extremely rare. And so, completely insignificant.
The hysteria over this issue is really undermining some people's credibility. The fact is, gay marriage or polygamist marriages would be a mere trifle in America and have no impact on the one man/one woman marriages we now have.
We live in a multi-faceted and free nation. That means tolerating a few aberrations that don't exactly suit you, but keeping in mind just how unimportant those aberrations are in the big picture.
