"Pet and "snake" do not belong in the same sentence.

Anti-venom was flown to the hospital from Miami, Florida

I think, if I had a pet snake that could kill me, that perhaps I'd keep some appropriate unexpired antivenin around the house JUST IN CASE.

Of course, that would imply foresight, which would likely preclude keeping lethal pets.

That triangle head thing is a dead give away. So to speak.

Suicide. There is no such thing as a "pet Central African Rhinoceros Viper".

I have this motto .....never hunt or keep as a pet something that can eat me or kill me.

AMEN.

Guinea pigs are okay. Cats are fine. So are dogs.

But not snakes...

The only way I would have a snake is "on a stick". Tastes a lot like chicken.

The thing that bothers me as well as most people with just a modicum of common sense is that historically, the US has only had four species of poisonous snakes - rattler, cottonmouth, copperhead, and coral.
But if enough of these imported exotic critters were to get loose in the wild, that would change for the worse.

A similar thing happened here in L.A. A woman kept poisonous snakes. She acquired a particularly deadly one (I don't recall the name). Her snake-loving associates begged her not to get it.

They found her dead in her apartment, with a note: "Call 911--Northridge Hospital Emergency Roo..."

The rest is silence.

Why she thought it more advisable to write a note than simply dial "911" nobody knows. I guess reasoning skills like that are the same as those which led to the purchase of the instrumentality of her demise.

Sure there is. In many states you have to get a permit to keep venimous snakes as pets. And they are not easy to come by. Gabbon Vipers are popular pets among the venimous snake keepers.

I have never had a venimous snake as a pet, but I did have a 15 foot Burmese Python. Not a snake to be messed with. Can easily kill you
