Sounds reasonable to me. We have limited funds and must make decisions where those funds are going to go.

The White House has eliminated money for the Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Program for the third straight yearThe administration wants to merge the Byrne money with Local Law Enforcement Block Grant funds and reduce overall funding to $600 million from $900 million.
So which is it??? Is the money being "eliminated" (which implies completely wiping out) or reduced?

Some of these departments are quite dependent on the monies.
Like junkies in need of a fix.
Get a job.

We get back to is is? I would imagine some homosexual in Africa is going to thank you for his condoms while your community funds more of the fight on drugs.

President Bush must be a loserdopian. So is Bush the reason that the steering wheel gets so hot in the summer?

The only way we can make the case is to talk about the successes. To me its important to tout those successes to the appropriators. ... Otherwise, a lot of these agencies are having to contemplate turning out the lights.
Parasites. These copshops love to catch people on petty charges, seize their assets (and keep them for themselves), send the offender to prison (which often forces the parole of rapists, murderers, violent criminals) and then the cost for all their enforcement is forced upon the taxpayers of the state.
My own state stupidly lets its state patrol and some of the drug cops do this all the time. Nearly all of the arrests made are for traffic that would otherwise pass through the state anyway. Instead, our state is stuck with the cost of drug enforcement for big cities and we're no safer from drugs. Oh, well, it'll all be wonderful if we'll only build another huge expensive prison which will fill beyond capacity in short order.
To: Brian S
Oh no! And the previous year-after-year increases were working so well, too. What a shame.

Hunt terorists or arrest pot smokers? Hunt terorists or arrest pot smokers? Hunt terorists or arrest pot smokers?....
Gee, golly... just can't make up my mind who to fear most.. Al Queda or Willie Nelson?

You know better than that! It is herb tokers.
"Pot" is a dysphemism! as are "weed" and "dope."

"So is Bush the reason that the steering wheel gets so hot in the summer?"Close. Bush is the reason it gets hot, cold, floods, snows, kudzu, and everything else. All because he didn't sign Kyoto. ;)

especially with a guy named, " Capt. Doug Rader"
what an appropriate name for a drug warrior.
