Boohoo, you bunch of cowards.
On Tuesday, Tom Childress, who just moved to Albuquerque from Arlington, Texas, was one of three protesters, including a young child, outside the Marriott Pyramid North hotel.
FReeper? If not he should be.

Is there any legal way to stop them from doing this? This is the second time (that I know of) they've done this.

When they come back, place them under house arrest.
Or maybe the Texas Rangers could just eliminate them using a firing squad.

"a pair of private jets"Limosine liberals.
We will stay here until the governor ends redistricting altogether
Good. Nothing will get done then-the less govt' the better. Besides, sooner or later the spouses are going to get pi$$ed that their spouses are living high off the hog in some fancy hotel while they are stuck home with the kids.

Perry can just call another session, and keep them oiut of state indefinitely. Sooner or later, their jobs and incomes will be in jepoardy. As long as Perry has the stones to keep it going, he can win this.

"A lot of people were not prepared to leave when we left," said Gallegos, who was having a care package of clothing shipped to him from Austin.
Other things they forgot:
Baby bottles
Pacifiers
Disposable diapers
Baby powder for their red a$$
Rattles
Dick and Jane books
Can you think of anything else they neglected to take with them?

Wouldn't it be a heck of a thing if they came back from their exile only to find that they had been recalled while they were gone?
THAT would be democracy in action!
To: FutureSenatorFromKentucky
Exactly. I think the real pressure will come from the spouses who are stuck back home with the rugrats while hubby is away at the Marriot ordering room service. I know my wife would be pi$$ed-"and when momma ain't happy, no one is happy."

I don't know about Texas law, but seems to me a "citizen's arrest" for conspiracy to defraud the taxpayers of Texas would be called for. If they are receiving salary (OR BENEFITS LIKE HEALTH COVERAGE FOR THEIR FAMILIES) while they are awol, thats fraud. Since they had planned to do this, that's conspiracy.

As a Texas Tax Payer, I'd best NOT find out that these maroons, and affirmative Action freaks are not using MY tax dollars for THEIR vacation.
Can the public sue legislators who shirk their jobs? If they can, I urge all right-minded Texans to file a class-action suit againts thse law-breaking socialists!

The 11 Democratic senators from Texas had known for weeks that the moment might come when they would have to flee Austin to try to thwart a congressional redistricting bill. Typical Democrats - they've know for weeks that this was coming and couldn't be bothered to pack a bug-out bag in advance.

Just leave the special session open, and declare the Dems in violation of their oaths of office, indefinitely -- until they come back.
Of course, they probably won't come back compliantly. They'll sneak back.
So actually, posting a Ranger near the rogues' offices and homes might not be such a bad idea. Maybe some of the Rangers will volunteer?

what I want to know is if they try to expense report their trip to the downtown mall. the reporters here said they were planning a trip there to buy some clothes. I do not want my tax dollars spent underwriting this foray.

Email addresses for Texas Senators. All you Texans out there.
royce.west@senate.state.tx.us, frank.madla@senate.state.tx.us, eddie.lucio@senate.state.tx.us, rodney.ellis@senate.state.tx.us, judith.zaffirini@senate.state.tx.us, juan.hinojosa@senate.state.tx.us, gonzalo.barrientos@senate.state.tx.us, mario.gallegos@senate.state.tx.us, eliot.shapleigh@senate.state.tx.us, leticia.vandeputte@senate.state.tx.us, john.whitmire@senate.state.tx.us, jwhitmire@lockeliddell.com
You can copy and paste this complete list and send them an email and give them your thoughts. No vulgarity please. Don't want to sound like a democrat.
Then forward the list to all your Texan friends.

I have a better idea. They wanted to flee the state?...fine. Post the highway patrol at the state line with orders to not let them back in!

He said the few officers assigned to the security detail are serving regular shifts without overtime and at no extra cost to the state. If it is no extra cost to state, could they please provide me and my family a half dozen plain clothes LEO's for bodyguards?
To: MattinNJ
I guess these idiots who are using taxpayers' money to "vacation" will just prove to the taxpayers that their positions can just as well be eliminated. No justification being shown that their positions should be filled....none whatsoever...
